Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Wow. i think I like the last the best. Now off to find out what a marine layer is.

I like the grey skies Paul. They make the castle look as austere as it is, perched on the very edge of the clifff.

Lovely bird pictures too. The Long-tailed tit is one of my favourite birds.

Good to see some hockey again Andrew and that's a nice set of action pics.

The flowers are beautiful colours. The only ones left flowering now at mine are some Ivy-leafed geraniums and they're not particularly photogenic.

At one time the MacDonald clan ruled an area that reached as far south as the Isle of Man and were known as Lord of the Isles. Their power faded over the years and by the end of the 15th century it was gone.

The castle must have been impressive in it's day Paul. It looks really dramatic in those weather conditions.

You've got to love the Long Tailed Tit, there just so cute.

I had to Google spinal stenosis. It's not something I would wish on my worst enemy. I hope you can keep it under control Andrew; it would destroy my life.

I love the flowers - keep them coming.

DPR seem,s yo have some issues at the moment - reverting to light mode from dark at random and it never returns after posting a reply but has completed the post if I open a new tab.

A terrific set of images Rich. I haven't seen a decent sunset this year but that's down to a lack of effort on my part.

I like the last one best for it's feeling of serenity.

Nice results Paul, you photos capture the sombre mood of those old castles. I like your Hooded Crow - it looks well prepared for a cold winter.

Love those skies Rich, my pick can't decide between #4 and #5. Hope you are keeping well.

4Mp does a great job for you. Nice to see Autumn colours. I'm amazed those trees can grow on such rocky ground.

We went to Malany so the Boss could browse the shops while I wandered through the rain forest at the Mary Cairncross reserve. The low light in these forests are a struggle for MFT, mind you a few photographers with Canons + long lenses were also struggling. With Spring in the air birds are nesting and the reptiles are donning their mating colours.

But when he stepped into the light I can see he might have been looking at the Mozzie on the end of his nose or was irritated by the tic above his eye.

From the edge of the forest you can see the extinct volcanoes of the Glasshouse Mountains - in Aboriginal legend they are a family of sleeping giants.

In Malany Christmas decorations are already in place on a Flame tree

We also (nearly) had the first storms of the season. There were many storm cells but they went either side of us and we missed out on the rain and the lighting. But I did get the chance to set up Live composite for the day we do get a good show,

The wildlife shots are really great Dicky. I especially like the image of the water dragon.

The storm looks pretty nasty but provided excellent images. I like the first one best. Glad it passed you by unharmed.

Read Dave’s post Charlotte the MacDonald/Donnald Clan eventually for there survival they had to leave Scotland but they survived and still have a Lord Dunluce /Antrim who has a castle in my birthplace Glenarm Co Antrim I went to school with two of his sisters flora MacDonald and Alice MacDonald I have been told the tit would make a nice Christmas card 🙂

Look up Sorley Boy MacDonald and u will get all the information u need 🙂
it would be far from me to diss you're castles, but it does look a tad too drafty for my taste! Splendid location though. I'm curious. What did a Scottish clan do in your neck of the woods?

Love your bird shots as usual (the castle ones ain't bad either!). The tit could be a christmas card, but I especially like the crow.
