Saint-Valery-sur-Somme

We are on the left bank of the Somme, south of the estuary, in front of the Saint-Valery lighthouse. We did not spend as much time as we should have in this charming place, and will have to come back.

#1. Oooooohhhhhhh!!! That's beautiful. The lines of the road, the bollards and the walkway. The rain in the distance. I just reacted to the picture... and now I will look at the map. That's GREAT!

I see the canal working its way from the estuary inland about 17 km to Abbeville. I then followed the Somme upstream for another 190 km to near Saint Quentin. Looks like beautiful country around Amiens. Would be fun to explore!
