Nice find. The tan markings make them rather exigent subjects.

In autumn, the grasses and other foliage at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY create a beautiful environment to photograph the waterfowl that migrates later in the season and also the resident creatures. On this day the Super Moon created an unusually high astronomical tide flooding many of the paths in the park. Familiarity of the park allowed me to work my way well into the park without getting into water deep enough to top my hiking shoes. Still about three quarters of the way into the preserve I stopped and waited for the water to go down some before proceeding. While waiting I wondered if I might find myself wading back in as the water continued to rise even as the moon was setting.

C&C always welcome!

There are a lot of simple crosses on the highways of NM where people have lost their lives in traffic accidents. This one stands out as way more elaborate and constructed of metal and just off the shoulder of the road. A couple of photos. Seemed like it needed to be in black and white. C&C welcome.

Dencer100, Bob, Paulo and Jose - thanks very much :)

The wood ducks were enjoying a quiet day at Kissena Park as the North Easter approached and many people chose to stay home. For me it was an opportunity to shoot with fewer disruptions.

Excellent 👍

There is an observation hut on the summit shaped like a yurt (see screenshot). There are no doors, but it does serve as a shelter from the wind. I took the following photos near there. You can see the Big Island of Hawaii in the first image.

First outing with the X100VI i got the other day to compliment my Nikon gear (Z9s etc). I think I´m going to like it as a everyday companion.

Beautiful campus. I read the college (the one in the USA) has a more unique approach to higher education. If that's the correct one, could you summarize it here with highlights.... even though the question is a little OT? Even if it is the UK one.... go ahead.
I cannot compare the two Unis at the two Cambridges, as I have never been to the renowned MIT. However, on both sides of the Pond, we are lucky to have such a range of universities to advance science, technology, arts, humanities, economics, medicine, languages, philosophy, etc, and learning in general.

I can offer two thoughts.

Serious Science. As most of you know, MIT was involved in the Apollo programme and developed the guidance, navigation and control systems, including the guidance computer and flight software. This was pioneering work for there was no second chance. The Apollo programme gave so much to science and engineering and I think the book One Giant Leap: The Impossible Mission That Flew Us to the Moon, by Charles Fishman is a great read.

Fun Legend. The story of a Cambridge college 'bumps' boat, allegedly St Johns, with a sword mounted on the boat's bow. The Bumps are a series of annual rowing races on the River Cam (still held today) where the goal is to "bump" (catch and make contact with) the boat in front. Boats have a rubber cushion attached to bow with which to 'bump' the boat in from. It is a game of chase and/or be chased. The undated legend alleges that the college's crew, in an historical bumping race, mounted a sword on their boat's bow to impale the coxswain of the crew they were chasing. The stunt supposedly led to the college's boat club being banned from future racing. To circumvent the ban, the club was renamed "Lady Margaret Boat Club." This is the club's name today.

Back to photography!

Lovely image. Based on my X100VI experience, I am sure you'll enjoy it too.
