Yes, I can see it now, not fair !

I'll wait a few days, maybe it comes down more to the South too ;-)
Still full price in Italy...
:-(

I filled out the contact form on the OM website and asked why "we" cannot buy this at that price?

Waiting for an answer
I received an answer from OM Systems...

The sale was apparently also available where I live (Belgium) but only from April 1st till April 3th :-(

They advised me to sign up for their newsletter to get informed for the next sales.

So, there's still hope :-)
The E-P7 with kit 14-42 is now (finally) on sale in Italy for €599. I've been traveling with the e-m5iii and I'm tempted to get a second body.
Thanks for the update !

I keep on watch here but at this moment...still full price
Got it ! 599€ :-):-):-)

ETA monday May 6th
Congratulations! I know its been a while, but do you live in Europe or ordered from the OM systems Finland website to the USA? I am in the USA and want to order from Finland OM systems, is it possible?

Can you still get it at that price? E-P7s have been going in and out of stock on the Japanese websites, and the price has increased since May. They're close to US$800 if I ever see them.

In my opinion, and I'm practically certain, you will have to pay taxes when a US citizen order a product from outside the USA.

Within and between all countries of the European council there is free traffic for people and products except for eg. Tobacco and spirits.

I paid $633.96 from Japan to the USA and no duty.

From the Customs and Border Patrol.

" If the value of your purchase(s) is less than $2500 and your goods are being shipped by mail or freight, they may, in most cases, be imported as an informal entry. However, there are exceptions to this. For instance, if the importation is determined to be for commercial purposes, the value limit for filing an informal entry for many textile items is either $250 or $0 - depending on whether or not the item is subject to Quota (see below). Clearing goods through CBP as an informal entry is less arduous a process than clearing them by filing a formal entry. Essentially, when goods are cleared as an informal entry, CBP will prepare the paperwork, including determining the classification number and duty rate for your merchandise."

Good evening all. Today I bought the EP7 and the standard 14-42 kit lense. I’m excited to get out with it next weekend and start learning a bit more. My question is: if you could buy one lense, what would you pick? 17mm F1.8? 45mm F1.8? Or something completely different? I don’t want to spend a fortune. My main use is portraits of friends and family, perhaps street photography. I’m visiting Australia in December so I will be taking some landscape shots. I’m new to photography so please try to bear that in mind. I did buy a dslr a few years ago but the big kit bag made it impractical. The pen is perfect for traveling, and I want to break free of the smart phone. Many thanks for your help.

You might consider splitting the difference here. I love 17mm for environmental portraits where you want to incorporate someone's surroundings into it, but if you're trying to really focus on them it's too wide and can introduce unpleasant facial distortion if you're not careful. 45mm is great as well, but can be quite limiting as a "walkaround" lens. So, 25mm is right there in the middle and can be used for both more easily.

It really depends on what FOV you prefer. Take pictures with the 14-42 at 14, 17, 25 and 42 to see the difference then go from there. I prefer the Olympus 17/1.8 on my E-P7 but I also like the slow but very sharp Panasonic 20mm f1.7. The focusing is a little noisy and slow but the lens is very sharp. Another nice, very compact lens is the Panasonic 14mm f2.5. I bought the Panasonic lenses used years ago now but I still enjoy them.

Finally, the Panasonic 15mm f1.7 is an excellent lens, sharp with a wonderful rendering but the aperture ring does not work on Olympus bodies FYI.

It is hard to go wrong with the 25 and 45 but those are focal lengths that I personally do not use that much, I prefer somewhere between 14 and 20.

If I could only have one, it would probably be the Panasonic 15/1.7 because it is so good.

Probably 80% of the time I have the P20mm f1.7 on my E-P7. I really love this combo

The kit lens covers a wide range of situations. As an addition the Panasonic 9mm f1.7 may be fun for those Australian landscapes

I have so many lenses, primes and zooms, but I almost never use the zoom lenses.

I love primes and the P20 is one of those I love most.
Same. And it's perfect for the small PENs. And if without an EVF one can use it with a Voigt or other 40mm OVF. Same with the 17mm with a 35mm OVF, of course, but I'll always choose the 20mm.

I am not sure if I hurt people if I say cameras without an EVF make people better photographers.

I think I compose better when I use the back LCD screen than when through an EVF.

I think the internet would be a better place if we shared what works best for us without decreeing what is best for other people.

That's great for you. We all work out what works best for us.

I faced exactly this question when I purchased an E-P7 for a recent holiday trip to England. Whatever prime lens(es) you pick, I recommend assigning the AEL/AFL button to the 2x Digital Tele-converter function. This effectively gives immediate access to dual focal lengths for any lens you have mounted. The 17mm (& 34mm) option (moderate wide & moderate telephoto) might be a good one to start with. Or maybe 9mm (&18mm) if you prefer the wider side of life!

Note: In order to go 'all in' on the color / mono profiles, I had already decided to shoot JPG-only with my E-P7 (contrary to my normal RAW-only practice). No regrets whatsoever. What a fun camera!

Although I don't shoot digital very much..... I do have a OM5 and purchased from MPB a EP-7 to compare. The EP-7 was sent back but not because of anything wrong. Quite the opposite as the EP-7 is an excellent camera.

The reason why I returned it? ..... I saw absolutely no practical difference between the OM5 and the EP-7.... other than the hump (which I like) ....they are pretty much the same camera 'practically speaking'....

Oh yes...technically there are many out there that will debate but practically speak the way i shoot, they are pretty close. I wouldn't want anything done to the EP-7 as nothing would really effect my style of shooting (film)....

I'm also in the 'change (almost) nothing' camp. I think the E-P7 is practically perfect in every way, for its intended audience. :-)
And ... coming from experience with the E-M5 II and E-M1 III, I found the color/mono profile capabilities to be very stimulating and creative. Now I want all my cameras to have this!

For me, a slight improvement in the sweep-panorama function wouldn't go amiss!

Almost any of the small Lumixes of the last decade can do it better than this - which is fairly typical of the P7 results I've been getting..

Not a big problem, although it would then partner my G100 better - since that offers no inbuilt panorama functions.. not even the ancient "take multiple shots and assemble them later" version!

While we are asking the impossible I feel like I should also speak up.

In my case I would like to see them make an E-P8 (OM-P8?) with the same controls as the E-P5 and of course 3 or 4 mode dial spots reserved for Custom Modes. Must be a brighter tilt screen of course. Just update the internals to latest or next gen and if we must have that knob on the front to play with, don't, make that feature happen with screen control.

I say that as a minority shooter who only uses the screen - and we all know that today the minority rules, OK? :-)

Basically, somehow they got everything right (for me) with the E-P5, so why mess with a perfect design except to update the internals.

Just back from a lightning hectic trip to China, not counted yet but maybe only 600 shots taken with E-P5 (8-18mm plus a very few with 6mm) and never once needed to menu dive or SCP dive, all done from the MySets assigned to the mode dial. The other couple thousand shots were taken with a pair of Sony RX100M6 ("24-200mm" quality compacts) one each for my wife and I.

Never an organised tour ever again, there's just no time for "serious" photography.
