What did you shoot or post-process? (Sep 15 - Sep 21)

Interesting. Is this rig situated in the same "garage" as your Roll Royce picture form last week? I wasn't able to respond/comment on that one. The Silver Shadow (?) body style didn't change much over the years. I'm guessing the one you posted was from the early 1970's? And no external mirror on the driver's side?

Very good! The fence posts or barricade (whatever it might be?) gives an illusion of going "one way" or the other... at the same time.

Yes. Mighty!

And I can indeed see him.

Doing a little reading... this time of year (SEP) is the peak flow, correct?

And... shot with the mighty D50!

:-)

Those are really good. #1... great timing. Does he stay in the house or is he allowed to fly around outside a little bit? Good luck with the PC configuration. I like Windows 10 (main computer) better than Windows 11 (laptop). I get particularly annoyed with "File Explorer" in Windows 11. The way the designer bozos seem to have duplicated the same things in various ways. Call it this and put it here., Call it that and put it there. But please do it just once. Keep it simple. Or maybe it's me? Old and stiff. LOL. :-)

Thanks John. My cockatoo loves attention and is a very willing model - he gets quite excited when he sees a camera in my hands. He is a tropical bird and so exclusively an indoor one. His life expectancy would be very short were he to get out, especially as we have predatory raptors in the area. However, by UK standards, our house is quite big and he is more or less free to fly around although his favourite place is my shoulder or lap. Obviously we have to be careful to keep doors and windows closed.

Speaking of closed windows:

Windows 11/10. I could not agree more with you but I hope you are aware that after October 14, just a few weeks away, Microsoft will be releasing no more security updates to Windows 10. Any kind of banking or online purchasing, perhaps even just 'surfing' the net will become increasingly risky.

I understand the need to change the core of the operating system but why not leave the user interface alone. I'm spending a lot of time disabling and deleting the frivolous junk that clutters the user interface.

Those are great. The subjects themselves, the IQ and the PP. I admire the patience of the bird shooters! Did you use the 80-400? I'd have a hard time picking a favorite lens, but the 80-400G would probably be it. Very versatile. Then add the 20/1.8 - and I'm set. :-) If I'm allowed to put a 3rd lens in the bag, it would probably be the 60/2.8.
Yes the 80-400G although heavy is a great lens, thanks for your comments.

Yes same garage, it was a fantastic motor museum that I did not know existed, only a short drive away, plenty of cars and other autos.

Wow it always surprises me how these ships with the containers ever cross the high seas great images.

Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field.

Love the expression on the cats face, nice set.

I see several of those ginormous MSC container ships passing East-West every day from my study window. I suppose they must have as much tonnage below the deck as above it but to my eye they look top-heavy - as if they could capsize in heavy seas.

That's a great capture of the swallow.

In bird photos I always look for fine feather detail which there is here aplenty. He must have been a late hatchling. I think UK swallows migrate to Africa at the end of September and he does not look ready for the journey.

Maybe you saw it... on the way from Felixstowe to Singapore back in early July? :-)

Hi M5,

Yes, September and October is peak flow time.

And yes, the D50 was & is a good little camera.

Thanks for your words ;)-

Love the minimalism of this!

Looks like he is having fun! I was hoping we'd see more of him :-D

Great shots! I really like the ones of him sneaking a drink and looking at the phone.

I too upgraded to Windows 11 this year. What really annoyed me was the requirement to login with a Microsoft account during installation. Thankfully I have one that I created ages ago. The first thing I did after the initial setup was to create local accounts and remove the Microsoft account. But I don't use Windows as a daily driver, so I guess I can put up with Microsoft's shenanigans.

Best of luck with your upgrade and cheers to Taffie!
