What would you like to see next from OM?

Next, I would like to see UPS delivering a no-charge loaner OM 150-400mm Pro to my front door, with an option to purchase it after testing as a used demo model for 1/2 price.

I don't do podcasts, but I would gladly flood forums with praise for the lens and for OM System and their generosity.

If you are reading this OM System, I am an experienced Amazon Vine customer, and write some really snappy reviews.

I don't agree with those wanting more resolution. It's simply physics that FF can't compete on resolution with MF, and so it's unreasonable to expect m4/3 to compete on resolution with FF. If resolution is an issue, the solution is simple, step up sensor size or improve skills.
However, if we don't fixate on MPs, then m4/3 should be able to match FF on dynamic range. It would be really good for the format if m4/3 can put that criticism to bed.

How about a GM5 successor with a 'Pen' label? Small, retro stylish & viewfinder in the corner.

Add weather sealing, OLED viewfinder and PDAF 20 mega pixel sensor [possibly OM5 guts - not OM1 or 3].
I don't think they'd be able to do that at an "entry level" price in 2025 (especially when you add in IBIS, which is one of OMS' distinctive competencies).

Personally, I don't think a body needs to be that small to be attractive. I loved my GM1, but the E-P7 is plenty small - and even the Fuji X100VI is significantly bigger and sells quite well.
I had a conversation with my dealer the other day and the subject of an OM10 came up. He doesn’t think there ever will be one, simply because the cost to build it would make it as expensive as the OM-5. I might agreed with him.

Also, adding in all the goodies that the forum members here seem to think are necessary to be competitive, or to get them to opt in……at a price point well below the OM-5 is just wishful thinking. I suggest that if one wants a nice small entry level camera, simply buy a first generation OM-5 or an E-M5 III.

My old EM 10.2 has IBIS - just not ‘sync’ ( OIS + roll for some Oly lenses like the 12-100).

Perhaps a body with capabilities of the EM10.4 plus phase detect focus. That would likely be the minimum capability no matter what packaging was used.
Then simply rebadge an E-M5 III with a USB-C.

weather-sealed, updated and upgraded for the modern street shooter, yet compact, with modern computational features.
- 'OM Pen F' (all the bells and whistles)
- 'OM Pen E-P8 (street shooter and vlogger joy machine)
- Weather-sealed 12, 45, 75 version II's, to fill out the small primes.
- Weather-sealed OM 75-250MM F4-5.6, to upgrade the budget telephoto offering.
- HUMAN subject recognition for AF as standard.

Not to be a broken record but, open gate video. It's the only reason I went with Panasonic m43 instead.

Lets see:

Update the following lenses to make them splash resistant, but keep the price in the same region as the earlier lenses. Lenses I would consider buying:
  • 9-18mm f/4-5.6
  • 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7
Lenses that I'm not interested in, but would round out the product line:
  • 12mm f/2 (maybe make it f/1.8)
  • 45mm f/1.8
  • 75mm f/1.8
New lenses that might make sense:
  • New small splash resistant prime in the 8-10mm range with at least f/1.8, keeping the price under $1K USA. Or possibly something like a 9mm f/1.2 lens, which would be more than $1k.
  • New lens with electronic zoom support. I would like a re-spin of the 12-100mm f/4 to include electronic zoom support. In particular, I want a good lens that has a reasonable range that can be zoomed from within OIShare like the older 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ and 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ lenses.
  • Maybe a few primes similar to 300mm f/4, in different focal lengths (30mm f/1.4, 150mm f/2.8, 500mmf/5.6).
For flashes:
  • Replacement of the FL-LM3, that presumably has a battery built-in, much like the Godox IT30Pro-O flash, but that swivels and tilts like the FL-LM3.
  • Have a cheaper, splash resistant flash, similar to the older FL-600R or FL-36R.
  • Ideally, the above two flashes would have bluetooth support so you don't have have them attach to a hot-shoe.
From a personal point of view, it would be nice if the RM-WR2 was actually widely available in camera stores.

It would be nice if the BLX-1 mark II battery had a USB port for direct charging, like the current Wasabi, Vidpro, etc. clone batteries.

For bodies, it would be nice if there was a cheaper body with a tilt screen rather than a fully articulating screen.

I don't feel the need myself, but having a built-in GPS that did not need a phone would be useful.

For software, it would be useful if OIShare got a major re-think:
  • Add support, particularly for larger tablets, to allow controlling multiple cameras at the same time.
  • It would be nice if the live view mode of OIShare added more support for advance features (like focus stacking, HDR, Hi-res, etc.).
  • Having a pan-tilt head that is controlled via OIShare that can support heavier gear would be useful.
  • Maybe a heads-up display that fits over eyeglasses that allows you do the live view via OIShare.

EM1X (ii) with at least 25mp stack sensor (33+ mp will be great), dual processor with similar or better features/specs that's on the OM1ii for sports and wildlife.

1. An updated 60mm macro lens with better stabilization and ability to use MC-20 teleconverter/start selling an OM System 16mm extension tube that can attach the 60mm to the MC-20. (I created a way to use the 60 with the teleconverter years ago, but would love to see them support it directly since the lens is so great and the combination works well for 2.4x magnification).

2. We need high resolution mode focus bracketing (not stacking) for up to 199 images. This is a simple firmware update waiting to happen.

3. Release a TG-Pro camera that is Micro 4/3 and about the size of the OM-5. Amazing built in stability, focus stacking ability, underwater ability, drop proof, - $1300 or so.

4. A new longer portrait prime lens with some character - like the original film lenses similar to the 55mm f1.2 or the 100mm f2.

150mm f/4 Macro

A 300/2.8 would be totally rad, but there's no way I would ever be able to afford it...

A Pro rectilinear fast wide angle AF lens, something like a 10/1.4 would be nice

A few more megapixels, could it be boosted upto 30? There are already agencies who will only accept uncompressed files larger than 20mp. They are going to have to do this is they want professionals to keep using OM gear.

I'm pretty much stuck with the 300f4 pro and tc's for birding at the moment. I'm years off being able to justify a 150-400 and I just think the 100-400 is too soft, so I sold mine. And I've not seen enough examples of the 150-600 to think that will satisfy me. Be nice if they could look at 400mm primes or some sort of zoom in the 3-5k bracket, something without an inbuilt tc, or maybe an aperture of 5.6 at the long birding end.

Just to keep on keeping on, stay in business and produce more ass kicking Cameras & lenses like the 50-200mm f2.8 and OM-3, oh yeah and just the odd little firmware updates to show us loyal enthusiasts that you love us just like we all love the system.

What I'm saying is just stay an innovative individual just like Olympus always did.

1. rugged, compact weather sealed Pen series with 25+mp, PDAF and subject detect (incl human)/AIAF

2. a new weather sealed pancake prime lens with good optical quality. like the Lumix 20/1.7 but updated with better AF speed and modern aesthetics

3. competitive video - 10bit and better codecs to make better use of the available quality. Lumix does this so well

perfect edc. happy to take a Lumix offering instead...

An all black version of OM3 as when photographing Birds and Animals the present “flash”of Silver is quick to the eye .

- OM-10 to replace the E-M10IV, finally with phase detection AF

- a new Pen camera (either a E-P7 successor or a Pen-F successor)

- maybe bring a new sensor that isn't stacked but higher res

- 8bit video that doesn't suck for when we don't want to shoot Log

Only joking
I actually do want a FF OM System. :(
There are 4 FF mirrorless mounts used by at least 6 major body makers. 3 of the mounts also support APSC lenses and sensors. There are many 3rd party lens makers supplying these mounts, especially E mount.

Why do you want an OM FF offer and how could they differentiate it and survive a long period of loss-making while building their brand?

Andrew
OM FF is called L-Mount, either Lumix or Leica.

If you are interested in FF, I strongly encourage everyone take a look at the S1.2e

I really dislike my S5 II, which is similar in size and ergonomics. I would hope that an L-Mount body from OMS would be more similar to the OM-1.

Only joking
I do believe 90% of active forum readers just removed you from their Holiday Card list this year.
If OMS put out a FF body, I would 100% be the first in line to get one!
Don't know if you're actually serious about an OMS FF.

Doubt OMS has the resources to handle a second mount.

And if their "FF" does well, wouldn't they move their focus away from the m43 like Panasonic? Need to careful what you're asking for.
