I see that (B&H) now shows:

GRiii Discontinued

GRiii Diary Edition Discontinued

GRiii Street Edition Discontinued

GRiiix Temp. Out of of Stock

GRiiix HDF Temp. Out of Stock

GRiiix Urban Edition Back Ordered

GRiii HDF in stock

OMG.

My GRii is really just sitting unused. I won;'t get a GRiv any edition IF I hear of a Nikon Z7iii or something coming up with a new Expeed 8 processor, by the end of the year.

I don't think people purchase a GR (any edition) for specs.....they purchase it for the size, the quality of images overall and the stealth. Your rumored Nikon Z7iii just doesn't hit it.

Ricoh ambassador Samuel Lintaro Hopf (Samuel Streetlife) said in his most recent video that the German Imaging World show in mid-October is likely to be the first place the GR IV is shown publicly. Do your own estimation/extrapolation from that as to when actual end user availability might happen.

Personally, I'm really wondering what the production status of the IIIx is going to be between the time the GR IV is released and whenever the IVx may come into official existence. I'd be perfectly happy with a IIIx any time in the next several months as availability might dictate. Having said that, I don't really feel like waiting another year or more for the IVx to appear.

Ricoh said in May that GR III production was ending and that shipping would cease in July - so I’m not surprised that that’s what B+H are saying, although historically, it has listed a product as discontinued when that wasn’t the case.

I’m in the UK and it’s pretty easy to get the GR III and the variants of it - and very recently, there have been discounts from one or two retailers. One of of the larger retailers is expecting a shipment at the end of the month, FWIW.

Ricoh has said that the new camera is scheduled for Autumn - which fits that October show suggestion by Samuel.

The GR IIIx will continue ‘for the time being’ so who knows about that. However, the GR IV HDF model will be launching after Winter 2025, so my gut feeling is that the IVx won’t be out for quite a while after that.

G.A.S. maybe. So what. I want both types.

And can't buy both new Z FF and GRiv at same time. No matter what you say re: "rumoured" , there will some new Z FF body and a new processor some time!

I want a upgrade over GRii and that small to take out any time. Not having to think about body and lens choice and carrying around a FF. Good. Can't be a Q3 or new SONY RX1R iii, for me.

Manual lens (Voightlander or such) on mirrorless FF zone focus can get streets pics too. Being upfront with a large cam, is fine with the right attitude and 'posture'. Many people ignore that unless one dwells in their face. Many people spot small cams when close and some think right away one is peeping on them!

I always travel with two cameras and shoot with the GRIII(x) for the reasons Jaime 100 states. And I like it for discretion in restaurants and museums. Once you figure out how to set it up for zone focus or hyperfocal distance it's unbeatable as a camera for "street photography." It's easier to set up a GRIII for zone focus than the GRIIIx for zone focus or hyperfocal due to the focal length. Still, I prefer the GRIIIx, but ymmv. I have the GRIII, but it doesn't get as much use. It's just me, I like 40mm.

An ILC is for everything else.

This may just be the single most honest thing ever written on a DPR forum.

What do we think this is going to do to prices for the older GRs?

Sometime in the past 12 hours (July 31, 14:00 UTC) B&H changed their status for the GR IIIx from “Temporarily Out of Stock” to “Back Ordered”. Not boding well for those of us that currently want one here in the US.

I would practically give away my GR2 if I knew the 4 was coming up. Used it yesterday for first time in well over a year or so.

What is it exactly that you don’t like about the GR II? I’m asking because I currently use the GR III, but had both the GR and GR II before and enjoyed using them, moving to the Iii because I was one of the unfortunate few who had the stuck lens problem with both of them.

Hello. This is my second GR2. It is my only compact now. When it is near time to be able to purchase a GR4, no big deal to me to be give away a GR2. Unless what I may spend on a condo, finally as a 'senior, by then puts camera and audio gear purchases on hold. Otherwise I could go Leia, even.

No GR2 great negative points to put forth. I do have trouble seeing screen in mid day glare or holding it away from my face. My snap focus touch does need improvement. Challenging to get used to the controls again after so much time being in a drawer. Very glad that last settings remained after so long a period of not using and batteries drained.
