I would not expect too much, if the sensor stays as tiny. In my S24U I cannot see much benefit in the 50 MP for the 5x

You're right. But the 12 MP sensor of the current Iphone 5x lens doesn't allow cropping, or, should I say, relies almost entirely on digital cropping, with so-so results.I would not expect too much, if the sensor stays as tiny. In my S24U I cannot see much benefit in the 50 MP for the 5x
That's unlikely. I doubt a 6x converter would be any good. So, using the 48 MP large pixels of the main camera would not compensate for a mediocre 6x lens sharpness.Wouldn't a 6x telephoto lens for the main camera bezter than a 2x for telephoto? With the sensor being much larger and having more crop Potential through Megapixels that should work out better - if the 6x is as good optically.
Which is the main reason that I bought this lens. And if the rumors are true that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max will be receiving a 48 MP sensor for the 5x (120mm equivalent) telephoto cameras, then my phone camera will likely be “good enough” for almost anything that I care to shoot. It's different if you use long FLs to "compress" the image for landscapes.
I looked at the Reeflex product page and I get confused. The manufacturer claims that it is a 10x magnification lens but it only gets to 240mm when paired with the "5x" camera. So it either is a 2x lens or it goes up to 1200mm.
I guess its a 2x and the "10x" is a false claim. For a 2x magnification lens it is quite expensive and I wonder if it has any benefit compared to just cropping the 50MP image. The aperture will be darker by 2 f-stops and resolution will probably also suffer.
Can you see a better result with this 2x lens? I would be surprised if so, even in bright sunlight.
Thanks for the time you put into this thread. In info I’ve read about this lens, I saw the reference to needing to use the Reeflex camera app to take the photos. Did you use that or the native app. Also, Adobe has released the beta of its Project Indigo app which is yielding quite good photos. I’d be interested in comparison images from all three camera apps if they work with this lens. This is a screw-on (17mm mount) lens optimized for the telephoto cameras of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, 16 Pro & Pro Max, and the Samsung 24 Ultra. It will deliver a 240mm-equivalent image at full resolution, and comes with a couple of magnetically-attached 200mm & 300mm macro filters that provide an easy-to-carry macro capability. I’ve only had this lens for a few days now, but my first impressions are very good.

The macro filters are a welcome addition.

You’re welcome! But yes, you have to use the Reeflex app with this lens. Because Apple’s camera app can’t tell that there’s a lens attached, and switches away from the telephoto camera. But the Reeflex app is very capable. Thanks for the time you put into this thread. In info I’ve read about this lens, I saw the reference to needing to use the Reeflex camera app to take the photos.
