Might sound silly, I`ve been using this for years but I have no idea ?

Logged into my account but all I`m seeing is billing information and stuff like that.

My 12 month contract is up and it auto renews at the start of August for another year.

You should see a "Manage your plan" button. On that page, there is a "Cancel Plan" option.

Paul, are you ending your Adobe subscription due to the price increase?

Although the S&P500 just made a new high, ADBE stock is down 33% in the past year. I'm not sure why; haven't followed it. BofA reiterated a buy rating yesterday.

Adobe is down 33 percent because everyone is bailing on them. Overpriced and underperforming. There are much better cheaper options now. Adobe did this to themselves. Greed has consequences.

The analysts' reports/opinions I've read basically express concern with Adobe's ability to compete with fast-growing and somewhat more dynamic generative AI companies.

There's also concern with the subscription model, financially, this worked well in the beginning, but as more companies introduce subscriptions, customers are experiencing subscription fatigue and questioning the value they receive.

Here's an article that summarizes some of the headwinds Adobe faces. Although the author doesn't seem to be a well-known analyst, she provides a good analysis that extends beyond the short-term

In addition, stock sales by insiders (officers, etc) trading has raised some eyebrows as this doesn't help investor confidence.

Unless it's an established movie or television studio trying to save money by faking actors and sets, I don't believe generative AI video can be easily monetized. Still images even less so. The AI features Adobe recently added, especially background fill, are useful sales leverage.

The subscription model is good for corporations, because it spreads out payments and simplifies bookkeeping. Most businesses (80%) fail within ten years, so "perpetual" licensing is pointless. Whereas! For consumers, the subscription model is acceptable for entertainment or telecommunications, but when it involves a lifetime of precious family photos, it seems inadvisable to rent software that stops working when payment ceases. (Lightroom folders remain accessible but not writable.)

Children and grandchildren are not going to subscribe just because grandpa did. And with the reduced value of photographs, the number of professionals who need a Creative Cloud subscription is shrinking.

Thanks. Interesting that she mentions Affinity Suite. I hadn't heard of Canva.

Insiders always sell stock because they own so much of it, but did you notice insider buying in the last quarter? Most analysts say ADBE is a buy.

Agreed, somewhat limited in producing large revenues, with limited growth, and new competitors.

Corporations have been using subscriptions for a long time - ERP, CRM, technical databases & tools, etc. - work well for them, especially when there are few alternatives.

They sell because they need some money for whatever purposes, and/or they usually don't see a short-term increase in share value. There hasn't been much buying by insiders, mostly exercising options - probably driven by expiration - and some selling. Based on the number of shares outstanding, the selling doesn't look like panic or a stampede.

I've seen the same thing with some analysts - they consider Adobe to be undervalued and a buy, historically a well-performing company financially that has a few challenges to overcome, with the expectation they'll improve.

Cheers,
Doug

Yes thanks, I found that about 5 minutes after my first post, all sorted now.

Nah, I was happy and I was not bothered by the price increases.

The last few weeks have been difficult, started chemo 3 weeks ago, Ended up being rushed into A&E (the ER Room) 3 times last week, on the third visit it was found to be chemo related Colitis amongst several other things, I`ve just been so unwell.

I`m not sure how long I have left but want to finish off two of my projects (one a little controversial) if possible, the chemo put me in bed for two weeks, I`m now considering ending all the treatment and feeling a lot better for it(hopefully) until I'm ready to shuffle off this mortal coil.

You're facing real challenges that put the complaints of the rest of us into perspective. I'm still mostly healthy, but at the age where the ultimate destination is looming larger and larger. I hope you're able to undertake your journey with grace and dignity. Best of luck.

Very sorry to hear such sad news.

I hate to say it, but that might be a wise decision. My father decided on surgery for his advanced lung cancer, but in retrospect that took so much out of him that his last days were more difficult than they might have been if he'd gone directly to palliative care.

My best wishes for you, however you decide.

I was missing Lr so much and find I cant do without it.

Bought a 12 month package from Amazon at £86, its lightroom only but the cost drops it to £7.15 a month.

Much as I love having all the latest and greatest software I can't bring myself to pay a subscription service for any hunk of software.

If I made a living doing photography work then it could be a valid expense for me. I don't. If I have to I'll use virtual machines to use an old OS to use my old stand alone software.

Luckily, I'm still subscription-free, with Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom Classic, both of which I bought and paid for; my only concern now is that the lack of updates could render them useless. With any luck, other software will become available if and when that happens; life is short.

Take care, Paulmorgan, I hope the best for you.

Thank you.

I`m still kicking but time is not on my side, I realised it was a bad time for learning new software so bought a 12 month Lr license from Amazon, it works out at a little over £7 a month.

I really would like to hear how frequent professional are using the latest and newest Adobe adjustments. I wonder if there is a need, or the time to learn to use those rather that the same old Photoshop feature that had been available for 10 years or more.

Photoshop CS3 can now be purchased for peanuts now. I even have an installation disk with a serial number, but I prefer to use CS6 since I also own a copy of that.

You and me both. I have erased a lot of subscription services from my families life. For the value you get from most, it's not worth it. I pay only for M365 now because it provides a great value for us as a family, apple's one service, as It gives my son his apple arcade, apple music and apple tv and we pay for River tv as our network provider. That's it. If I can't pay once cry once, or free, I am not using it.

It's all a huge money grab.
