Has anyone seen and adapter for SA to Z on the market yet? I had Quick Look and not seen anything. I tried stacking megadap and mc11 to see what would happen acts like a dumb adapter but could not get z8 to fire when mounted lens.

da7329,

If you could find a Pentax K to Z the SA would mount on the Pentax adapter but, in any case, it could only be used wide open since the SA lenses have no aperture rings.

Thanks. I realize no aperture control but wide open would be fine in most my use cases.

Due to the rarity of the SA bayonet, no one except Sigma itself will make such an adapter.
But there are at least several Canon EF - Nikon Z adapters. Example, Viltrox, Techart, Megadap... With working electronic communication, although there are reports that the optical stabilizer will not function.
If you change the Canon bayonet to Sigma... it should not be very difficult.

I wish I could take a SA mount (e.g., dead SD9 or something) and put it on an EF to Fuji X adapter while maintaining the proper signals. I'd love to have my SA mount lenses available for my Fuji cameras.

Is this the adapter you used?

The reason I ask is because they claim that the ETZ21 Pro offers functionality with third-party auto-focus lenses, such as Sigma, Tamron, Samyang, etc. If those work, then I'd imagine that an Sigma SA mount lens on an MC-11 with the latest firmware would work too, but if that's what you tried, and it didn't work, that sucks.

The reason I'm curious is because I have been considering that Nikon Z8 vs the Panasonic S1R II, and the Z8 is apparently much better at 8K video (which is the main reason I want to get one of those cameras). I don't want to have to buy a whole bunch of new lenses, and I have some great Sigma Art lenses in SA mount to use. I know I can use them on the Panasonic, but I'd like to be able to use them on the Nikon Z8, using my MC-11 adapter, and an adapter to convert from E mount to Z mount, but if that doesn't work, then I think I would just get the Panasonic S1R II instead, even though it can't do 8Kp60, and it apparently produces pretty crappy 8K video (at least at this time, before a few firmware updates, which will hopefully improve the 8K video dramatically - https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/68325067 ).

Yes pro21. It works fine with third party emount lens. I tried my sigma emount 100-400 and Tamron 70-300. But stacking megadap and mc11 the camera will not fire with ef or sa lens attached. I will fire with just the adapters attached. So the problem is closed circuit with lens attached. A member on another forum. Suggested getting a dumb e to z adapter to attach to the mc11 to prevent closed circuit. That would work I think giving a full manual lens on the z8.

Well, the problem with that is I would have to use all my Art lenses at f1.4 (or 1.8), and I don't want to be forced to have such a shallow depth of field. Hmmm . . . I guess it's going to be L mount for me!

:]

Well you could set the aperture on another sa mount cam maybe Quattro the mount on a z cam. I normally use my long glass wide open so I don’t run into the problem to often

What does ". . . Quattro the mount on a z cam." mean?

Sorry if English isn't your first language, but I just don't understand what you were trying to say.

Simply set the f stop on a sigma camera then attach the lens on the the z8 with fstop you set on the sigma camera

That should make manual focusing fun.

;)

Are you sure that when I turn on the Nikon Z8 the lens aperture will not open up? (I guess it wouldn't if the lens is on a dumb adapter.)

This looks like a reasonable dumb adapter for Sony E to Nikon Z:

I tried several sa and ef lenses with stacked Megadap and mc11 adapters they all acted like a manual lens no aperture control and the z8 would not fire with the lens attached. Maybe there is some setting in the camera that will let the camera fire no matter what but I have not found one.

Thank you for the info. I think I may end up getting a Sigma BF after-all. 🙉

There's a newer version of the Megadap (ETZ21 Pro+) that claims compatibility with the Sony LA-EA5 smart adapter:

It's possible that this might work with other adapters such as the MC-11 too. It might be worth contacting the company to confirm, or searching for user reports online.
