Where have you been? Pretty much all the manufacturers are raising their prices across the board to include Trumps tariffs.I see the Sony 600MM F/4 GM has just gone up USD$1600.00. Hmmm
The OP appears to be in Colombo, SriLanka , where they presumably don't pay a trump charge to import .Where have you been?I see the Sony 600MM F/4 GM has just gone up USD$1600.00. Hmmm
But are manufacturers charging the rest of the world extra to spread the extra cost of selling in the US to reduce price increases for one market and screw the rest of the world ?Pretty much all the manufacturers are raising their prices across the board to include Trumps tariffs.
Maybe, but he is talking about US$, not Sri Lankan Rupiee. The OP appears to be in Colombo, SriLanka , where they presumably don't pay a trump charge to import .Where have you been?I see the Sony 600MM F/4 GM has just gone up USD$1600.00. Hmmm
Not as far as I can see. EU price for the lens is dead flat for at least a year. And really, why would they? Or more to the point, if they thought that would increase their total bottom line, why didn't they do that previously?Wether there looking at prices from a US source or just converting their own money to US dollars from a domestic source to buy so Americans don't have to scratch their heads wondering what that means is unclear though.

The problem really isn't so much the grifter as the millions of folks who gave him the keys to the sanctum. Again. All because of one orange A***hole ?
If people buy in their own country they won't be subject to the US tariffs (Canadians may have issues if their camera gear is coming into the US and then heading to Canada). The OP appears to be in Colombo, SriLanka , where they presumably don't pay a trump charge to import .Where have you been?I see the Sony 600MM F/4 GM has just gone up USD$1600.00. In the UK it has gone down recently. Could be due rate of exchange? The US$ has gone down. Other Sony lenses are down as well.I see the Sony 600MM F/4 GM has just gone up USD$1600.00. Hmmm
I can use either or and when I use my CC it has a option to choose either one of the currencies.. I bought my Nikon Z9 in Sri Lanka recently and it was about $800.00 less then buying in States..In the UK it has gone down recently. Could be due rate of exchange? The US$ has gone down. You use US$s in Sri Lanka?
Your currency has fallen considerably against the Japanese Yen, this year, which may explain the price increase. Also down against the US$. So it may look more expensive, but your currency is worth less, compared with most major currencies.I can use either or and when I use my CC it has a option to choose either one of the currencies.. I don't understand how anyone thinks playing chicken (not the TACO kind but the automobile kind) is a sane diplomatic or trade negotiation policy, nevermind that the Cheeto in chief genuinely believes tariffs of this kind are ultimately a good thing and not necessarily just a negotiation tactic, something half his supporters don't wanna believe.Well, seems those USA price increases are just the beginning of the mad tariff policy. I read that a increase to 25-40% on Asian countries incl. Japan has just been announced.

I guess the Wharton school never taught about the Smoot-Hawley tariffs and the effect they had on the world economy.Well, seems those USA price increases are just the beginning of the mad tariff policy. I read that a increase to 25-40% on Asian countries incl. Japan has just been announced.

It is not only tariffs but also the US$ has devalued. Let's hope prices keep falling in Europe.Well, seems those USA price increases are just the beginning of the mad tariff policy. I read that a increase to 25-40% on Asian countries incl. Japan has just been announced.

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that the deal with Vietnam was 20% and Indonesia 19%. Japan and South Korea have 25% at the moment, unless they make a deal. Negotiations are ongoing. I found these with a quick search and more than one article. So, more like 19%-39%. ;-) But the higher numbers are only final if negotiations stall. A motivator, not the end goal.Well, seems those USA price increases are just the beginning of the mad tariff policy. I read that a increase to 25-40% on Asian countries incl. My point is more Sony lenses are made in Thailand now, if tariff is 36%, then they will be more expensive. The kit lens that came with my Nex-5 from 2010 was made in Thailand. Looks like the past US tariff was averaging 2%, while Thailand had 8 to 10% against US imports, according to an article I found.
