Someone asked me about the Canon R6 Mk2 having a $399 off coupon on Amazon.

I'm a little suspicious that it might be a gray market or "refurbished" unit.

Does anyone have experience, thoughts, or recommendations on this whether this is legit?

sure buy it...If you have to ask if its legit you already know the answer. Or Thomas Tusser said a fool and his money are soon parted.

"The fact is that relatively few photographers ever master their medium. Instead they allow the medium to master them and go on an endless squirrel cage chase from new lens to new paper to new developer to new gadget, never staying with one piece of equipment long enough to learn its full capacities, becoming lost in a maze of technical information that is of little or no use since they don't know what to do with it."
A Great Quote by Edward Weston...

I'd also check out the sellers reviews and use PayPal. I'm sure your credit card company may take action if required but I once read PayPal pretty much always takes the purchasers side. You have two resources if something goes south.

Also, ask the seller about their warranty service. If they provide their own "expert" service I personally would avoid. As you can imagine, Canon does not provide warranty service for gray market items. Non-warranty repairs could set you back a lot more than the $399 discount.

It's legit. The coupon applies only with Amazon as the seller. IIRC, they're an authorized Canon seller. The sale also offers free 30 day return and refund. Amazon is running some pre-Prime Day sales, and this might be one of them.

Looks like this "coupon" is no longer active as of now (03/07/25. around 2PM). Perhaps I missed something, but it only comes up at the $2199.00 price without any coupon options. If I'm wrong, let me know how I can still use that coupon discount, because I'd otherwise snap it up.

Yes, the coupon was gone by the day after I originally posted. There are rumors that the R6 MK3 will be introduced later this year, so there may be other opportunities to get a good deal on the R6 MK2.

BTW, the person ended up buying it on Amazon, and the camera serial number checked out with Canon as being under a US warranty. So it does look like it was legit.

I wasn’t interested in the MK3 but now I’m quite curious.

The Mark III release has been forecast by people for over a year now. I still wouldn't count on it being real soon.

Yes! I'm jumping on the first R body that sports a Tilt LCD! Been waiting for 5 years now!

That would be really nice. I find the rumoured 30mp, stacked sensor and advanced subject tracking intriguing. We'll see how many of these hopes transpire.

Yes. Getting very anxious to hear some news. The R50V did nothing for me. I did almost jump on that screaming R8 Kit deal at Canon Refurb last week.

On the lens side of things, I'd really like a new small stabilized 1:1 Macro. Maybe an RF 60 perhaps? Just as a lightweight complement to my (big) 100. I've owned (and sold) 2 EF-S 60 Macros, but they never really tripped my trigger.

Might have to wait for the trade fiasco to clear up before anything new comes out.

I know I wouldn't want to release something without knowing from week to week what to charge for it.

It will never clear. It’s all distractions to everything the billionaires who are running the show are doing to enrich themselves.

The R6mii is $1899 on B&H right now.
put one in my cart ( shhh….dont tell my R8)

haven’t hit buy yet…oh and I have a payboo account, so that covers tax, so another $137 off.

Love my R8, especially the size. But there are things the R6 have I’d love to have…extra card slot, ibis, better battery, more customization…wish all that was in the R8 size.
