HI

I spent a week in Bonaire this year and last, visiting my daughter and son in law.

Had a chance to snap a few pictures and just now placed them into one of my pBase Galleries.

Here's the link:

And a few shots from that gallery:

After lusting after it for 2 years, I finally acquired a Nikon Z 24-120 on Monday (6/9/2025) to complement my Nikon Z 14-30 and Z 24-200 lenses. I was a bit skeptical that it was 'that much sharper' than my Z 24-200, but it really is! Even my wife remarked at how sharp the lense is :-) Was a damp and cold day - our cat was basking in the sun :-)

I almost forgot how nicely the 105 MC performs

Since,

LOVE Vivid Sydney!

I have some shots from there, as well, but they're not easily located at this time. My computer is somewhere on the Pacific Ocean at this time, heading to Australia, and with it my hard drives with photos on them.

Since,

Yes, we are! And thanks! I moved to Brisbane last month, but returned to the States with our daughter, who is attending Australian National University in Canberra and has a month off between semesters. Our oldest is also in Brisbane, and has been for three years.

We were considering either Sydney or Melbourne, but our youngest, when asked where he'd like to go to, said Brisbane. I think, in many ways, I would've preferred Sydney, particularly when it comes to my finding a job as a technical writer/editor, as I think there are more opportunities there than in Brisbane. But there are also other potential jobs, so...

I take it you're in the Sydney area somewhere? My family has spent a fair bit of time in Sydney, mostly in and around Macquarie Park.

Here's one from a wetlands preserve in Brisbane, taken last Saturday, before I returned back to the States. It was taken with the Z9 and the Nikkor 500mm PF via the FTZ adapter, and is an Olive-Backed Oriole eating some berries.

And here's an image I took along South Bank in Brisbane a little while ago.

At first, I wasn't too happy with the people on top of the sign. Then I realized that it gave a human touch as well as a sense of size for the sign.

Congratulations! ANU is one of the best uni in Australia.
Certainly Brisbane is quite different from Sydney and Melbourne in terms of lifestyle and attractions. In general, it costs more to live in Sydney, and I am getting bored shooting the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. :-)

Nice photos, but the plant in the first photo is Brazilian Pepper, classified as a weed here. :-D

Since,

Thanks! It was their first choice in Uni, after we visited UMelbourne, USydney, UQ, and ANU.

Yes, definitely quite different! I'm learning my way around and getting to things that are interesting. The wetlands where this photo was taken, for example, isn't difficult to get to: a 15-minute bus ride to the train station, then a 15-minute ride to the stop, followed by a 15-minute walk to the wetlands! LOTS of birds there, too, and a Superb Fruit Dove was spotted there recently! I'm hoping it will still be there when I get back and I can go to try and find it!

I don't know how prevalent that plant is there at the wetlands, but it was certainly quite happy where this bird was on it! I also went to a park a couple of weeks ago where there was a LOT of Lantana, which I understand is also invasive, as well as a nice example of a Purple Porterweed in someone's yard at a different location. I know that Porterweed is also considered an invasive plant there, though here in the States, it's a beautiful and important plant for pollinators.
