Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Lots of roses Dave. I always thought water on the leaves of rose bushes was problematic for the bush. Apparently not or they would not be thriving in Scotland!

A nice set and good to see more of your garden Dave.

I do all the hard work Rich. My wife is the creative person in our garden and deserves the credit.

Well someone has to be the genius

Dave sees a lot of old wrecks. We have fewer round our way but...

Beware Charlotte…..Dave could be jealous…..
I wish... 😚😂

I had asked Andrew for help. I have a problem with my new macro setup. I'm totally pleased with the flash and the diffuser I showed you before. Both are used for that image.

But I get overexposed images in daylight when the flash is in Manual mode, even if the subject is in the shade. It feels like the camera interfere somehow. I had to use ISO 80 for that image and still needed to take exposure down almost one stop in post. It's sunny outside, but the geranium is in shade.

I was thinking there maybe is a camera setting I haven't found that should be used with manual flash. I just choose Fill on the SCP, since that's the only option there is.

#1 for me! Rain always gives so nice and clear colours.

BTW did you manage to see that otter movie directly on YT? Sad if you couldn't. I think you would love it. It's filmed on Shetland. Very exotic to me, maybe less so to you.

That garden is very well tended, Andrew. There used to be rows of containers in the center. Then the fairgrounds started renting that space for weddings and require the center to be open. 🤑 Rich

When the flash is in manual you can play with the speed, you can go up to 1/500 and still have a good exposure also you can close the lens up to f16…..if you use a tripod it is easier to play with the settings

A great set of flowers…I’m sure your garden is full of colors

These are nice Charlotte 💐
Thanks. It came out as I wanted, but the reason I posted it is that I have a problem with my flash+diffuser in manual mode and thought there might be a camera setting for flash in manual mode that I have missed. I only get the choice "Fill" so that's what I use. 😶

In daylight things get overexposed even at the lowest flash setting. I had to shoot this at ISO 80 and still had to lower exposure in post.

People shoot bees in flight in similar light and with similar equipment and use way higher ISO!

A great set Chris…..was there damp

I believe the first two is a dc 4…… I’m correct? The Air Force here use to fly those until the late 90’s, and still have a dc3….
