Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

I like the first and the last in particular Andrew but they're all good.

Dave.

The white house is on the island of Scarba. It's the only house on the island which is only accessible by boat. Can't see myself ever getting there.

I've no desire to swim in the sea anymore and the possibly of encountering things like this confirm that I'm doing the right thing.😊

There seems to be a vessel of some kind left to deteriorate at almost every pier, bay or harbour, Rich. I find it incredibly sad but they can be a good subject for photography.

Dave
Yes there is something ethereal about wrecks

That's a great buy Rich. I've been tempted to buy an S5 but have resisted so far. A used S5 with the 20-60mm lens can be bought for silly money these days.

Seeing these images hasn't helped.😊

Here I saw second hand body only for 750 eur and thought for 999 I get a free lens and new with 5 year gurantee + yearly sensor cleaning...I wasn't really looking and certainly would never have thought about Panasonic for FF. Just goes to show...at the right price

I took no chances with the jellyfish and gave it a pretty wide berth, Paul.

Another lovely set Dave and I always enjoy reading the histories on the interpretation panels.

I like a bit of piece and quiet but I'm not sure I'd want to be as isolated as those living in the white house.

Nice set, Andrew .. I think that might be the hairy as it appears to have a long bill and a flatter head ... However, not sure we even have a hairy around but have had at least one pair of Downys as long as we've lived here .... which is decades ..

WhyNot ....

It was a nice day for a walk about ... Nice looking house on the hill and I suspect that road leads down to a dock ... And the Bay I gather is fed by the ocean which should be really cold flowing down from the Arctic Here we could go down to the Gulf ... (last time down the water was like a very warm bath and salty enough to throw me back on the beach but then that's OK as there are things swimming out their you don't want to become friends with ..) OTOH we can just stick to sitting around or swimming in the hotel pool! ... and with something cool to drink ...

WhyNot

Nice walk on a relatively empty beach ... I suspect the water is cold so that one doesn't goes out except in a wet suit but I would think you might find one fisherman along the beech ... rather than a group of horsemen ....

WhyNot

Nice set Pete with my fav being the 🐎 and the last photo 🙂

I share your feelings about the house on Scarba, Pete. Buying my daily paper would be a major expedition.

Dave

I'll settle for a heated swimming pool WN. I used to swim regularly in the sea as a youngster and never felt the cold. I think my blood is thinner now and there's no way I would do that now.

I like nothing better than walking along a deserted beach Pete, especially one as big as this one. The feeling of wide, open space is what I like.

Windswept and peaceful

Looks a good spot for some beach cricket too
Silecroft lies on the western edge of the Lake District. I've never seen this beach when it's not been quiet, which is why I like it.
