Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

A good looking place Dave. At the end of the Bruce Peninsula which separates Lake Michigan and Georgian Bay is town with a similar name, Tobermory. I am guessing the names are too similar to have no connection in language!

Andrew

Tobermory is the main town on the island of Mull, Andrew so I imagine that's where your name comes from. The town featured in a children's TV programme called Balamory.

Tobermory is also the name of one of The Wombles, another children's TV programme. They were furry creatures who kept Wimbledon Common in London clean and tidy.

A popular name it seems.

It's a great shame to see a once proud vessel left to deteriorate Charlotte. Sadly it's not an uncommon sight.

The dance shot are really good! And the kids are so cute.

Individual shots no Burst ... like we did them with film and early digital ... One more not quite executed as well but I think .. well maybe .. usable
That's something to be proud of. I like #3 the best, in case you want to know. ;-)

Like the look of both Roy but Balintoy speaks to me

Nice trip to Luing and a look at its history (from GOOGLE) Glad you took me along. Dave ..

Great set again, Paul .. I was looking at that empty beach and noticed the road and building hidden in the left corner. Thought it might be an equipment shed for beach maintenance as it has an unreadable (here) sign but then I think I see a chimney so maybe some sort of residence associated with the beach ... Very empty scenes like this leave me always surprised at how often you have these scenes to yourself .. maybe very early ....

Interesting set, Andrew .., Spiderwort is in bloom here also and will be for most of the summer. Peonies bloom earlier and are gone. I have couple pictures and may post them later if I have to go back through the files .. Never was much into dance as my daughters never took it up but these pictures present it well and makes it interesting .........

The first heron image is especially good WN.
Thank you, Andrew
I could shoot bursts with my OM1 and OM2 film cameras WN. I had a film winder that would do three frames per second! I did not opt for the full on motor winder as film was expensive. I did not shoot three frames per second more than a couple of times for that very reason! B&W bulk load was affordable if I developed it myself. I mostly liked the winder so that I did not have to and I liked the additional grip it provided for holding the camera. After I got the winder it was never off the camera when shooting.
I was aware of those winders but never thought much about them, .. read about them in the popular camera magazines in early 70's I think
I shot about half the dance recital in single shot mode before turning on the burst mode. Even then I rarely pushed the shutter release long enough to shoot more than one or two shots sequentially.
I rarely use burst usually because of the rarity using it I rarely remember it and then regret that I didn't use it .... I actually bought the M1.2 for the ProCapture mode (!) which I no longer use because it causes problems for my hands the way I shoot it ....

Very nice captures WN.
Thanks Dave .....
Herons aren't the most aerodynamic of birds and seem quite ungainly until they get airborne.
A bit awkward starting out ... Look good in flight ..
They're pretty good at catching fish though.😊
Even it is thrown to them by one of the fishermen they think are working for them .. Maybe we can go down to the river and see what is going on ... I'll take a thermos for us ... and I think there will be an empty bench along the water ..

Thank you Charlotte ... Not necessarily proud but I enjoy doing it that way and then always think how much easier and probably a better sequence if I had remembered to turn on the burst mode .. Probably reacted and didn't have time even I had thought about it with the heron.. The mockingbird only reminds me how I regret no longer playing with ProCap! ...

Saw the Panasonic S5D with 18-40 lens for sale new at 999 eur. Dumped the GX9 and PL 12-60 in exchange and a bit of cash

Amazing images already...Thought I'd test it in extremis with taking pics directly into the setting sun

It still a big chunk of kit to heft around but only 855 g
