What did you shoot or post-process? (Jun 9 - Jun 15)

Thank you,

your Dutch is improving ;-)

I often opt for taking lousy phone pictures, just to remember coming back with proper gear.

I also must admit that I was inspired by this photo by Michael Hrankowski , on the site of late Kevin Raber (what a loss)

I am surprised how fast they are (apparently?) spinning -- with a 1/2500 exposure? Doesn't seem quite right. Nice picture, though! :-)

Some sort of iPhone multi exposure trickery?

I clicked on the link. Image taken at 0.6 sec; f/5.6; ISO 100. I'm thinking the iPhone EXIF is "off" in some way. Maybe? For example, when I am shooting near the airport, if a turboprop is on final approach (engines are running at much lower RPM than takeoff) I usually have to stop way down (f/16) to get a slow enough shutter speed in order to *try* and blur the props. In this case (Q400 below) the shutter speed was 1/160 sec. These are airplane propellers, of course! When I see those big power-generation windmills around here, they are usually turning pretty slow... maybe... 1 or 2 revolutions per second, max? I'm just guessing. Certainly not as fast as an airplane propeller! That would be crazy, considering the size of those windmills. I'm glad you posted the picture... as it is an interesting discussion (for me, at least). :-)

Well, they are not proper cameras, of course. I have just spent two whole days rescuing a friend's holiday pictures taken with an iPhone. I sometimes put photographs on my 'phone - but they fall off when the dial goes round.

;-)

Very nice and colourful 👏

Thanks for showing Tallinn - I enjoyed your images

About 20 rpm apparently. See:

Just 20 or 30km west of where I live there is a huge offshore windfarm called the Rampion, over 100 turbines stuck out in the sea. It is a good 2km from the nearest commercial shipping lane. Shipping, especially leisure craft, are still allowed through the farm though.

I personally have never sailed through the Rampion. I imagine it is confusing, especially at night.

Thanks. While the old town is beautiful, I didn't take many pics from there as it is quite busy with tourists. Even though there are areas that are peaceful enough, just off the main streets. Didn't do too much walking anyway, as both I and my wife managed to catch a flu for our trip, the first time since Covid in 2022.

Yes, 1/2500 is right. This is what you get when you convert a live photo to ‘long exposure’. It merges all the frames.
[Comparable to FP mode flash]

This is akin to using 'fp-mode' flash on a Nikon camera. FP mode flash cannot adequately freeze motion.

You are right, but this is an iPhone live image, converted to ‘long exposure’

basically a short movie with the images overlayed and averaged.
’( maybe you can do that too on nefs/tiffs using the ‘hugin’ software )

the idea was to capture what I had in mind, without my proper Nikon gear to make it right’

HI

I spent a week in Bonaire this year and last, visiting my daughter and son in law.

Had a chance to snap a few pictures and just now placed them into one of my pBase Galleries.

Here's the link:

Bonaire Gallery on pBase

And a few shots from that gallery:

Whoops!

Just realized that I should have posted this in the Nikon Z forum..

Too late for me to delete this post now

Sorry!

(Well, it might be useful in this forum as a demonstration of what I've been shooting since switching from my F mount leneses to Z mount...)

LOL. Just a few "snaps" with the Z gear. :-) Those are GREAT! As usual.... you have hit the creative photography sweet spot. I should probably sell the cheap (new) D850 I got a couple of weeks ago on sale... and get a Z8. But it would be expensive... and it would still be *me* behind the camera... so... it probably would not make much difference! :-)

Nonetheless, some great shots, sharp, clear and contrasty. I especially liked the one of the lizard. My favourite though is the yellow headed Amazon parrot. I was owned by an Amazon parrot for 23 years. The bird flying straight at you is a difficult focus situation.

I wandered around the Palouse of SE Washington last Saturday. It seems like I barely touched the surface of where I could have gone. I did eventually make it to Idaho, did a little exploring there but didn't find too much. I think my first planned route was much more fruitful.
