XE5 leaked images

I hope they improve the card eject (from my X-E4) so it allows enough clearance to grip the card easily with thumb and forefinger. Canon RP/R8 are a great example of how it could be done.

Also the on/off switch turns too easily on X-E4 causing it to be switched on when placing it in a case. The Xh2s and Xt4 are more solid and probably my X-S10 (but I haven't used it in a while so don't remember.

Not too many other gripes, it's a great camera otherwise, hopefully the X-E5 will build on this and add lots of interesting features.

Is this a possible selector ring and button? Is this the new film sim dial?
It screams diopter to me.
Hmm... yeah, I hadn't though of that. Very curious to see the rest of this thing.
I expect at least one more leak ...
Expect about 5 more. These days, FR slices them into the thinnest possible portions.
More opportunities to see their referral links.

I wonder if it'll be weather-sealed?
I expect Fuji will continue to reserve WR to the "pro" models.

As much as I'd like an X-E Pro to happen (w/ WR, upgraded EVF), it wouldn't fit into the portfolio. The X Pro line occupies that position.

Giving WR to the X-E range would cannibalise sales of the professional models. And they wouldn't be able to sell competing X-E Pro and X Pro models, in my opinion. (Well, if they had a current X Pro model, but that's another topic entirely.)

Oooh, this one is really tempting. It's got a grip, if they fitted the bigger battery in there I'm definitely getting it.

Luckily here in Poland they don't sell out nearly as quickly. 100VI was still available weeks after premiere ...
I’m expecting a hike in the tourism department in Poland.

You're all welcome ;)
Thank you! It’s the same situation in Lebanon where I live. It’s a small market, and we’re passing through tough economic times. Basically fourty pieces of X100VI are more than enough for the country. Maybe the local dealer has a couple of units left. Also one can find a few used ones.

Some grip is good than none. I always found attaching any separate grip not very cohesive, despite how good XE4 grip was.

The question is will the EVF be better? I think the XE4, X100Vi EVFs are lacking a bit with all other advancements.

By default I’d agree, but a number of aspects of the X-E5’s design paint an interesting picture IMO.

The top, and probably also bottom, plates look to have acquired the design language and presumably the materials and manufacturing process from the much more expensive GFX100RF. The front lever, too, is inherited from that camera—which is a weather resistant model. The MCS switch comes from the X100 series—also weather resistant. These may just be design features that are carried through, or they may be whole parts which start to reach a tipping point where weather resistance becomes more readily achievable across the chassis. Add to this the fact that the design clearly looks more premium than the X-T50 as well as on the face of it appearing to use a lot more metal, and I wonder whether they’re now differentiating this from its sibling not just with the layout of the viewfinder but also the price and the build quality.

I still think it’s an outside bet that it’ll be weather resistant, but not out of the question. I guess we shall see before long 🙂

The back is just as important. Cameras that have a small or no grip need a proper thumb rest at the rear, and the X-E4 has neither. Adding a small front grip is much less useful unless there's an accompanying thumb rest at the rear.

The X-T50 is a perfect illustration of how a small front grip with a large, well-placed rear grip dramatically improves overall handling.

too boxy for me , i don't like, for me the original version looks still the best.

Nice that they take back the AF switch button, but the placement seem really odd.

the X-T50 seem a better solution for me

I know what you mean but some extent I’d say depends how you want to use it. I find my X-T4 (and similar cameras) problematic in the street because the grip gets in the way, it limits how easily I can hold the camera in slightly different ways and move it in my hand. The X100 and 100RF cameras, on the other hand, with their small front grip and lack of thumb grip, I find much more street friendly. YMMV, of course. Personally I’d lean towards wanting a bit more friction in the leatherette rather than more protrusions, but I realise that’s a minority opinion.

I'd be so happily wrong, and however much the camera cost poorer, if the X-E5 came with X-T50 feature set, WR and (ideally) an upgraded EVF.

The historic pattern and current portfolio in mind, however, I'd bet against it happening.

Even the X100VI has a slight raised section rear right which prevents the thumb naturally slipping past the edge, unlike the X-E4 that's just a bar of soap. Friction alone is never as good as even the slight ridge of the X100, it reduces the required grip force resulting in a more comfortable feel without additional insecurity.

I agree about front grips; I prefer the small grips of the X100VI or X-T50 but dislike none at all, like the X-E4.

The X-E3 was, and is, a gorgeous camera. The new one coming is more 'modern' looking, but cold.

Really wish it came in Charcoal colour...I am stuck between Black and SIlver, and Charcoal is perfect. I will go for Silver likely.
Who says it won't?

We'll have to wait and see, but it would seem odd if "charcoal" wasn't an option given that it's been offered on recent cameras including the X-Half.
I would guess that if they were doing charcoal then it would be in that image.

Personally I think I want the silver body, but I hate silver lenses. And it’s a safe bet that they won’t do a kit with the silver body and black lens, unfortunately.

The grip looks a bit fugly to me; I’d actually prefer the flat face of the E4, but I know I’m in a tiny minority there.
that ismy thought too, hope to be surprised.

Not having a hinge on the left side of the camera leads to thinking this one has a tilt screen.

Personally I think it’s the right decision for the target market (street, travel and general photography, but not video as the primary use). If I’m right, many people -including me- will celebrate Fuji’s decision.

I will bet the farm on it having the same screen implementation as the X-E4, X100v/Vi and 100RF.

The X-E4 screen is different from the others. I’m hoping for the X100VI screen.

Yes, sorry, good point, I forgot that. I prefer the X100/100RF too, but as long as they fix the nightmare upside-down switching of the E4 I could live with that.

I’m pretty certain I can make out the little hook for pulling the rear screen out by its bottom left corner.
