Personally impressed by Capture One's new retouch tool

C1 v.16.6 adds a new retouch tool that I found surprisingly simple and effective. The below before/after is only differentiated by the retouch tool where I applied blemish removal and lightened "dark circles." There are also skin smoothing and contouring, which were not applied. Because it's AI generated, it can be set in one photo, and then applied for all following images in a set.

In fact, an even cooler feature, is setting up the first image during a live capture event, and then applying it tp all following images. It makes it possible to have a review with the subject who sees their own image that's been cleaned up a bit, during the photo sessions.

I think the new Retouch Tool is pretty good, certainly for portraits and a lot of commercial fashion. The face detection is good too when the face is partially obscured or partly turned away from camera.

I still use Reblum for some images, but I am enjoying being able to keep my workflow in C1 for the majority of my images. If they can eventually get around to making the heal tool better for stray hairs, I may never have to use PS again!

Agreed. It's a very straightforward UI, quick, and easy to apply to multiple images in an event. I just didn't think it would do as well as it did ... nicely subtle, nicely natural.

For me, Capture One is simply the best. The only thing it lacks is a good noise reduction. Apart from the NR, DxO is unusable for me due to poor highlights/shadows recovery.

Agreed. I really wish C1 could do cleaner noise reduction. It's ok now, but I suspect that some AI engineering could make a big difference. I bet it's on the schedule.
