I apologize in advance if this topic has already surfaced. I attempted to search on the topic, but system load is currently too high to perform a search.

I noticed a Broadway Photo ad for the F828 in PC Magazine, which listed the price as $829. I decided to call them to try and get more information.

I first asked about the price, which was a misprint (Really? It's been that way in the last two issues of PCMag...). The correct price is $929.

I then asked "When will you ship this camera?" The sales rep. responded "We will ship it in two days." I made note to him that Sony had not yet shipped to retailers/venders (to my knowledge). He replied "We are an international distributor, with special relations, we can ship it to you in two days."

Bottom line, I would like to know if anyone else in this forum has any prior experience with this company. Because of the misprint, as well as the supposed early ship date, I'm obviously skeptical.

Just for reference, the company website is http://www.bwayphoto.us . The name of the sales rep I spoke with is "Dave" at 1-800-514-0163 extension 265.

Any information would be appreciated.

Best regards

Before you order from broadway photo in brooklyn, take a long look at this photo of their address :

Ozzie:

I didn't get any pop-up ads when I went to that site, and I am not using any pop-up blockers.

I don't understand why you got a lot of ads, but I'll take another look to find out.

Jesus man, that freakin' link above almost flooded my entire
desktop with pop-up ads.

Man, next time, warn us ahead of time.

I didn't see any pop-ups either. Like you, I hate em too. If I would have known that the site was a pop up magnet, I wouldn't even have posted it.

Take a look at the included accessories page. They have taken out all the cables and the battery. Most likely so they can sell them to you at an outrageous price.

Just read the pcworld article that was posted (which, by the way, has no pop-ups)

In light of the experience that they have documented, you would have to be an idiot or worse to even attempt dealing with them.

I will call tomorrow for fun though :)

it's funny some people still have to be told this.

The ads were probably loaded (requested) from his own computer. there is software that sometimes rides along with freeware that you install and those little apps load ads when you go to a page that has content it needs to trigger the ads. it always looks like a flood and is really annoying. there are still other programs out there than can clean these things off your system

I have not heard much about this company but will do some checking. Any information I find I will post. I have been waiting for this camera to come out. I am dying to get it before Christmas. I hope it is as awesome as it sounds.

Not sure they're fair with DBuys/IBUYDIGITAL. It sounded like they had no issues with them and they still kind of grouped them in with the scammers. My 707 came from DBuys 2 years ago ... no issues ... checked reselleratings first and they were well rated.

Broadway has been at it since way before the web ... they used to do their sales thing through the NYtimes 20 years ago. It's amazing they are still around. In my opinion the web is finally exposing these places and making things better ... just do a little research first.

I don't see that they have removed the cables.. in fact, it lists the cables as included. But the battery.. that's another matter.
