Monitor: How long will the RX10iv (and the RX100vii) stay on sale?

The SONY RX100VIIA is Sony's response to EU's requirement for USB-C charging that went into effect in 2025 - they ........... disabled micro-usb charging and added an external charger.

‎Name: DSCRX100M7AB.CE3

ASIN: B0DPN44TQK

Amazon's desciption after Amazon's machine translation from German:

"About this item
  • Update 2025 / A version: The battery can only be charged externally with the included charger; charging via USB is not possible." ....
From what I see the only difference is that in-camera charging is disabled and you get a battery charger instead of power adapter (sony's German website allows you to compare both models). So to all those that have been waiting for a RX100VIII - it looks like it is not going to happen in the nearest future, if at all.

Yes, as already discussed. It looks like the external charger is Micro USB, not USB-C, so Sony isn’t really complying with the new EU rules, just cynically exploiting an apparent loophole.

just cynically exploiting an apparent loophole.
Loopholes are a moral fiction. If the law hasn't addressed this omission then it is not a loophole.
Sony certainly seems to exploiting this omission to break the spirit, if not quite the letter, of the law. It will be shipping digital cameras (which are mentioned in the law) to the EU without the ability to charge the batteries using USB-C.

It could so easily have done the right thing at almost no extra cost by including a USB-C charger instead.

Both Rx10iv and RX100vii on stock here in the Netherlands
Aussie mid March update....

RX10M4 "currently unavailable". Previously shown $ price has now disappeared. Cannot add to cart.

RX100M7 "on back order" with no expected date whereas recently they were showing April 2025 as being available again. Oz price AU$1689 tax paid. Can add to cart and they want the full price with no expected date of delivery. Nice.

Sony in Australia certainly seems to have a different policy to elsewhere, particularly the US and Europe. But it’s odd that the stated stock situation keeps changing, without them actually ever being available.

UK stocks of the RX10 IV are dwindling with only one of our two major chains having stock; the other has stopped listing it.

The RX100 VII seems to be completely out-of-stock with the RX100 VIIA waiting for stock.

In Germany, the RX 10 IV is still widely in stock in all larger online stores, however with fluctuating stock levels. Price ranges from 1549 to 1699€.

Belgium: RX 10 IV still available, prices 1479 - 1999 € VAT incl. But I noticed some shops also selling their RX 10 II' s and III's. Emptying the shelves?

RX10iv still on stock here in the Netherlands, but now at a price of € 1999,-, that is an increase of € 300,- compared to 2 years ago! RX100 still out of stock.

In the Netherlands the RX10iv is still on sale for € 1999 at several stores (delivery within 24 hours). My own store specifies € 2499, an increase of € 500 compared to last month (April).

The RX100vii is still on sale for € 1299 at most stores (or temporarily out of stock).

Only one shop left in the UK listing the RX10 IV on Camerapricebuster and it doesn't have stock.....

For how much is it for sale?
£1499 (if it had stock…)

But I found it for £1,636 from another store:

https://norwich-cameras.co.uk/products/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-rx10-mark-iv-black-in-stock-now
£ 1636 is about the same price as in the Netherlands (€ 1900). It is getting more expensive (strange policy)

There's no 'policy' involved. It's just supply (minimal) vs demand (slightly greater) in a free market.

Wow, price increase in Germany, too! Last time I checked it was around 1499,-€, now it has gone up to 1999-2499,- €. :-O

Used I found one for 1499,-€.
Theoretically, I could sell mine now at 50% higher than what I paid for mine in mint condition (but I won't).

And that looks very dubious with a claimed list price of £2980!

Yes, they obviously don’t have it stock, but think can get it from someone else with a few days notice.
