You've owned a lens that came out in 2020 for fifteen years? Wow! ;-)Strap probably never installed and misplaced at some point. It's probably been fifteen years since I last installed the supplied camera strap.

My presumption, having never owned one, is lens straps warrant the same acceptability criteria evaluation."It's probably been fifteen years since I last installed the supplied camera strap."You've owned a lens that came out in 2020 for fifteen years? Hi MatThe response from OMDS took a couple of days in my case. Good luck!Thank you Mat for taking the time to respond yet again. I am very grateful. I have contacted OMDS requesting information about a reconditioned BW. This is certainty a route I would now take to get my hands on a BW. I was surprised to read that you had a warranty of 2.5 years. I will let you know how I get on. Kind Regards, ColinHi Colin,Thanks for responding Mat. I had not considered a reconditioned lens so your response was most helpful. You got the lens at a very good price. Unfortunately, they do not have any available at present. I will monitor the site on a regular basis. Also. pleased to read that you are happy with the lens. Kind Regards, Colin.Hi,Thank you so much for starting this thread. I have found the information provided very useful. I am now persuaded that I want this lens. However, I would if possible prefer to purchase a used/secondhand lens. Unfortunately, I have been unable to identify a lens for sale on the scondhand market here in the UK. They have dried up completely. I have tried Wex/LCE/SRS/Clifton etc without success. If anyone knows of a secondhand lens for sale here in the UK I would be very grateful if you could let me know. Colin
I have used the refurbished offering they had in the OM System Shop a couple of weeks ago in Europe. I believe the offering has been in UK too. I got a what I believe great copy for 6000 Euro and two years warranty. As with the new lenses by registering the lens they gave an extra 6 months on top. While the lens has not been delivered in the original packing, the lens itself is flawless and as new.
I believe they are gathering another batch of reconditioned lenses and start sales again as the placeholders are still in the shop.
6K € is still a lot of money but I have the great white in the field since some weeks now and I am very happy with the results.
Regards
Mat
I've seen that the BW is on backorder again as reconditioned version.

There is no promotion for reconditioned items currently but when I saw this lens as reconditioned the first time there was no promotion either and I wrote to the support. They offered me a 20% discount for the BW, but while receiving the email, the official promotion started already with same discount level. What I want to say is that if you get in contact with OMDS support you should get a 20% code for the150-400 reconditioned version, that would be 5200£ according to my calculation.
With 2,5 years warranty this is an option to consider.

Hi Colin, I am sorry to hear that. Don't know why OMDS behaves so customer unfriendly sometimes. Who will purchase a reconditioned lens for the new sales prices? But to be honest, they already have that lens available as reconditioned again and my strong believe is that they want to sell this stuff soon which means, the next 40% (20% for BW) promotion is for sure already scheduled and should arrive in a couple of weeks. I'll report as soon as I recognize something. Regards MatHi MatThe response from OMDS took a couple of days in my case. Good luck!Thank you Mat for taking the time to respond yet again. No luck with OMDS. There are no discounts/special promotions at present. The price currently for a reconditioned BW is £6499 which I think is rather on the high side. I did email Costswold Cameras re BW at £4999 which is an extraordinary price. The lens they have on offer is a grey import so would not be recognised by OMDS. The company offer their own warranty. However, the waiting for the lens would be 8-12 weeks. I will continue looking for a used len for a few more weeks. Also, hope a special offer comes out on a new lens but I not holding my hopes up on that. Thanks for your support. Much appreciated.
Kind Regards, Colin.

What planet are we looking at?
It's the sun. Used a solar film filter I have for my spotting scope. Fits on the lens, but not that ginormous hood. What planet are we looking at?
I'd say The Moon, this is also what handheld 1000mm looks likeWhat planet are we looking at?

Did try Jupiter (no filter) but that's going to take a tripod.

Thanks for responding Mat. I was surprised that there were no offers available. I keep an eye on numerous dealer sites usually every couple of days but I have drawn a complete blank. New and used remain high. I would be very grateful if you would let me know if you see a BW with an offer or at a reasonable price. Kind Regards, Colin.Hi Colin, I am sorry to hear that. Hi da7329I might sell my 150-400 at some point as I have a lot of other gear from other brands that I use more often. Mine is a made in Japan copy with very little usage. You can PM me and if I decide to sell it can contact you to see if interested.

I did think about a pinch lenscap for a bit but don't think I'll bother as I'm very happy with the way things have been working in my kit, I always leave the lens hood on and have no problems getting it in and out of my Shimoda V2 25 Litre backpack, one thing I would highly recommend is one of these Lens covers, I did put a mark on the beautiful white finish on mine, here is my kit the way it sits today with my gripped OM-3 with my 40-150mm f2.8 on it ready and waiting, also got my 12-40mm f2.8 in there and my 8-25 at the moment.Thank you kindly, I'm excited and a little intimidated—that I'll recover from.WOW congratulations with that, I know you have been thinking of one for a while, bet your loving it and end of the day it's money well spent, I can't seem to get mine off my OM-1 Mk2 so lucky I have the OM-3Did the deed I did.Have you now got a 150-400mm f4.5 Rick??It's the sun. All the pictures don't do the build quality justice, everything is top-notch down to the smallest detail.
Think my first followup will be a pinch lenscap for it--that hood isn't going in a number of bags without a fight. Can wear it on my head or something. Pleasantly surprised at how it locks on, had thought it was a simple friction band like the 75/1.8 hood but this is as stout as a thing can be.
