A couple of years ago, I would have recommended On1 Photo RAW as an alternative to LR. It offered more advanced features such as masking, AI noise reduction, etc. However, with the latest PR 2025 release and/or update, not only have the push updates slowed performance but now they have corrupted the camera profile for the Nikon Z8. I have PR installed on two separate systems and the corrupted camera profile is evident on both systems, so it's not a one off or user error. Personally, I prefer the Z8's camera profile over the On1 standard profile. It is frustrating that their support team won't even acknowledge the issue when presented with the evidence. Ironically, the camera profile from their 2024 version works just fine. As a whole, their masking, NR, UI, and AI are vastly inferior to LR/PS. What a joke.

Why don't you adjust the image using the slider controls?
Seriously? Why not use linear RAW for all files too? After all, it's all about moving sliders, not. You do know that different RAW file decoders (including profiles) contain different attributes including sharpening, tone, contrast, and color curves/characteristics.

I understand your frustration when things no longer work the way they did. But I don't fully understand why you are focused on THIS particular change. To me, the new 2025 standard profile is a better place from which to start editing. Maybe the Internet changes how images look, but I could work with this.

Is the change consistent? I could see problems if you never knew what you were going to get.

Am I focused on this one particular change? Nope, but I think it exemplifies the lack of due diligence by this group. If they can't keep the integrity on a something as simple as a camera profile then how deep do the issues go? FYI, The On1 Standard profile is too magenta and doesn't display some colors accurately including browns. The Z8 camera profile which was fine under PR 2024 has been corrupted in 2025 and they won't even acknowledge their mistake.

Now, if you want to dissect out the problems with the tools, the NR, the AI, the UI, etc., let me know and we can take it bit by bit.

Sorry that reality of the situation has disappointed you. I don't argue the merits of various software. I am not you enemy.

You need to find a different software. Name your requirements and maybe someone will have some suggestions.

I have issues with Z 50 profiles in 2025 ON1

More over, Ihave more, I have more than one camera profiles.

Yup, I'm returning to LR/PS. Thanks. The annual subscription for PR costs more than LR/PS.

Sorry to hear that.

I have a bunch of built in profiles. The Nikon Z8 standard was the best and that's the one they blew up. Sure, I can make my own, but why? Again, the standard camera profile was fine in 2024 and in the first iteration of 2025 but now they blew it up.

Now there is my turn to be sorry. I intended to say that I ha. ve NO issues with Z 50. Sh×t happened.

Also, it might be a bug in Z 8 firmware that makes standard profile such a dull. Did you update your camera firmware lately?

After repeated and ongoing communications, On1 acknowledged a problem with the Z8 profile and promised a fix in the next release.
