at least, one of thee loudest shutters is a (or my) Pentax MX .. I was taking snaps at a Liona Boyd (Canadian classical guitarist) in the late 80's where, unlike rock concerts, the only sound heard was Ms. Boyd's guitar playing
.. until, that is, I started taking snaps with my Pentax MX and people start looking at and shushing me :-O I turned off my winder and did manual advance .. still looking and shushing me. I noticed that Ms. Boyd would raise her head every once in a while and decided it was time to turn on the winder, wait for Ms. Boyd to raise her head and blast away .. I did so and Ms. Boyd stopped, looked at me and I took off just as security was coming to my position -- BTW, I did have a Photo Pass --. As I was leaving, I talked to the A&M rep and asked him to pass on the "photographer's apology" which he did and Ms. Boyd's response was 'she understood and was very happy and surprised that a photographer apologised for the noise. I bought a Contarex Super recently but it's with an expert for a CLA.
After college I had a friend who was a camera repair guy. I bought a Contarex Bulls Eye with a 135 f2.8 Sonnar for next to nothing, camera store mistake, it was missing a neck strap socket. I took it to the repair guy, he said it was $300 just to open the camera, he would do a CLA on a Leica for around $100. He also said it was a repair terror on the inside. No modular parts all tiny pieces to make the wind, shutter, and mirror work. He epoixied a strap lug on to the camera.
