Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.

The wind was blowing around 20-25 mph there, Andrew. I remember once trying to have a picnic in the wind. I would not try it again. Also, the Chinese restaurant I like is 20 miles south of that place. That place is called College Cove, the students from the university like it. Back in the 70s when I got here the sheriffs liked to go there and bust them for nudity. It's like busting a pothead, an easy bust with no violence or resistance except bitching. The kids still go nude there and the cops don't bother them anymore. Note: the beach is a couple hundred feet below that picnic spot down steep trails. Nobody can see them unless they climb down...and, before you get any evil thoughts, no, I have not.

Yes the 24-120 is nice and sharp. It focuses nicely, both auto and manual. It should work well with the big LED light which works so well with the 12-100. The Z8 will make the pictures for a stack at varying focus, then you stack them with whatever you got. Rich
The comment about the nude thing is hilarious. Reminds me of a high school buddy who came into a windfall of 80K when his grannie died. Like any responsible young tyke, he blew it on a sports car and then went to Spain for vacation. Says he went to a nude beach there but was too modest himself to go full buck so wore swimming shorts. He met some nice girls and asked them to take pictures and they agreed!

Seems like a place where you can spend quite some time

Last week Charlotte, went ther for 4 days

I used to body surf, Charlotte, a few times, in Southern California, where the air and the water are warm. I wouldn't try it now because my body doesn't work anymore.

Well, it may look warm to a flicka in Sveden, and there was sunshine, alright. But there was a strong, constant, icy wind coming off The Pacific with a taste of Siberia in it. I made a few pictures, took a chill, then headed for a warm Chinese restaurant for some Moo Goo Gai Pan with a side of Mongolian knudles, and a few bottles of Tsingtao. Ahh, Rich

Make mine a waffle, please!

Thanks, Roy. Maybe they'll fire up one of the locomotives again this summer and give rides and I'll get some pictures of one up to steam. They haven't since Covid, but I'm hopeful.

The exhaust is going the wrong way because the locomotive is reversing. Rich

I could sit and watch the waves for hours Rich, especially when there's a good wind driving them and they break nicely like that.

I a sucker for steam locos too and we're lucky enough to have a good number run by preservation groups here in the UK.

It's a while since I had a Chinese dinner and I need to rectify that soon.

Those waves are quite something Dicky and great to watch from the right distance.

The Ospreys have been arriving back in the UK in the last few weeks. Most overwinter in Africa. We don't have many breeding pairs and the nests mostly have to be protected 24/7. They're a delight to see though especially when out catching fish.

The flower arrangements are tricky to photograph Andrew and the stacking works nicely. I have to say I prefer the simplicity of the single blooms though.

You'd better eat lots of ice cream after one of those jalapeño garnished hot dogs. Gasoline here in the far northwestern corner of California costs just over twice as much as it does in Houston. Rich

A beautiful city with an interesting mix of Christian and Islamic architecture. I wish I had spent more time there.

Dicky.

I would enjoy a Corona but not a light one! Never got the chance to try a Texas hot dog. If ever the Aussie peso becomes worth a plugged nickel again I might still get the chance.
