** Weekly Fuji X-Series Photo-Sharing Thread April 12-18, 2025 **

I visited the Dombes area near Lyon in France today, kind of a small Camargue and definitely a very nice place for nature photography.

Still not GAS on the 150-600 or the 500 f5.6 for me at that point, so the 70-300 did the job for another sunday hike.

Today we stayed a bit more local to our accommodation…Nairn beach, first thing in the morning with the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 and later as the sun was getting low with the Ttartisan 35mm f/0.95.

Cheers, Bob.

All three photos are great but I particularly like the two bird photos

Lovely set. I think I like number 3 the best. Really like the lone figure at the end of the line of beach huts.

Of the pictures of the groins, I think I like the B&W one the best (though I might be tempted to crop out the little bit of the post at the very bottom of the frame). I wonder if there is a composition that has the groins running diagonally through the frame (perhaps in landscape orientation)?
Thanks for the comments….no, I never thought to go for a landscape orientation…I wish I had though, because now that you mention it, I can see the shot in my head 🤔📸👍

Cheers, Bob.

We have been watching sheep on a field from time to time. It was first one lamb born. Then two others followed. They should be 3, 4 weeks old.

Voigtlander 50mm f1.2 X-Mount this lens is fun to use.

It is a good size and made of metal.

It feels very good in the hand.

The focus and aperture rings are smooth and have moderate damping.

It is a very interesting lens.

If you have any advice, please feel free to give me some. I will be very grateful.🙏

Good color. No night, day, afternoon, or otherwise Herons where I am. 😁
Thank you Bob,

I see plenty of Night Herons during the day :-}

Morris
I’m about as far west in North Carolina where you can find these herons, and there are only a few small populations around here. But some come back every spring and nest in the tall pines around the marsh.

Beautiful images. Lovely bokeh on the second one. Nice shooting 👍

I went scouting, looking for best view over Oakland, Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay. Found some good spots, but unfortunately it was a hazy day. Shooting in the afternoon, with the sun starting to be West didn't help. I'll have to return!

Agree with Morris. Interesting buildings especially #2.
The building in image #2 is one of the Gehry structures in the Media Harbor (MedienHafen) of Düsseldorf, more specifically the Silver Building designed by architect Frank O. Gehry. It is part of the “Neuer Zollhof” complex, which consists of three sculptural buildings standing side by side. These were completed in 1999 and are now landmarks of modern architecture in Düsseldorf.

I heard a bunch of Common snipes making a fuss in the bushes and expected to see them there. Little did I know that they were observing me from the top of a dead tree.

I just wish that the clouds had scattered a bit sooner so I could get some morning sun onto them. But maybe it would work out better as B&W?

Fun little fact - in my language this bird is called Thunder's little goat (where Thunder is a pagan god). They say this little goat was sent to the people to alert them about upcoming thunders or storms. Luckily, there were no storms after the encounter, quite the opposite actually

Some great photos in this thread, here's my humble contribution. Perhaps I overdid the first one, but it shows the DR capabilities of a single raw shot from the good ol' 26 mp sensor.

Nice! I like that XF 70-300 lens!

Lovely photos of an amazing aircraft.

When I was a kid, my favourite model aircraft was the Mossie. Fast, versatile and deadly, it is a great example of necessity being the mother of invention.

These look very nice. The EXIF shows f2. Do you have any samples at f1.2?
