This is why I chose the Lumix S1R2 as my new camera system. In the end, the viewer only cares about the image, and not the features of the camera.

What do you think?

Sure but in that case why not choose a camera that is less than half the price?

I don't like his nose.

Nothing to be done there. I had no input on the shape of his nose ;-)

Oh, you can do better ISO performance, but resolution, AF, lens selection, etc. are also important. In comparing 4 cameras which compete with each other the S1R2 easily has the best image performance.

In all honesty, 44 over 42MP is not actually any different. Also the AF of the S1R2 is more comparable to the older generation Sonys such as the A7riii than any of the latest models. Lens selection is not even comparable. And this is from someone who really wants to get the S1R2. The only reason for me is the unique feature of the Panasonic over the rest, which is the real time LUTs. That's why I got the S9 and the only thing that I really miss is the EVF.

Agree on all points.

Note that the AF could truly improve with FW updares, look at what they did with the Nikon Z8.

Also, the Sigma lenses are easily some of the best out there, beating Sony at some of their best and at half the price.

What i am focused on is final image quality and this is where Lumix shines! Other than that everything else is secondary.

The S1RII looks good!

I had the A7r3 (loved the IQ!!), but to say the AF is on par with the current Lumix generation is not accurate. That sony is miles behind the S5ii that I have, so the S1rii I would guess.

(and the IBIS and the video)

Good to know, that might push me over!

When the A7III came around the corner it was the af everybody wanted. And other cameras wouldn’t be trustworthy for professional jobs on the af. Now the newest generation cameras wipes the floor with the a7III af but wouldn’t still be able to do the professional job. Offcourse Sony went further also with their af…. Last time in shot 3 office sketches, and I know my Lumix. Using zone or a small box throughout the scenes. I never have the idea that I couldn’t get the focus right. The contrast detection on the s5 could get lost and never find its focus point, but since the pdaf it works so well

That is what really matters.

As you pointed out the viewers don't care about any of the things mentioned in this thread.

How I like to produce my image, what controls make my shooting easier, how the images fit into my PP workflow are all the things that determine my camera purchase decisions.

They are different for every photographer, though all of them may be producing the same 42-45 MP images.

That's just the effect of noise reduction on the S1R2. And you can't switch off to use the better noise reduction in a raw converter of your choice. Interpolating from the values up to 3200, the Lumix would be a bit better even without NR (obviously, as it does not have a stacked sensor), but it would not be that noticeable.

And not being able to switch it off is a clear disadvantage.
