***Challenge 3: Official Voting Thread***

Thanks, phototakeouter, for your vote and comments about "Golden Hour." I'm glad you were able to relate to it.

Also, thanks to everyone else who voted for (or who will vote for) my other photos. I'm really excited about all these votes!

It's interesting that everybody else seems to like your (Ann's and Rob's) other entries, but not the ones that I chose.

Thanks. I really didn't expect to be given a mention. I actually had better ones I was working on, but I ran out of time, and I didn't have the tripod along on what was really a scouting trip. I was a bit curious if they'd even let me take pictures of the capitol since I've heard others had been getting flak about it.

First I want to say that this was much more time consuming than I expected. It's been fun.

Exhibit
4 Self Portrait in Shadow by Lonnit Rysher

Well, I wanted to give you a 5 for this, but I only had 10 points, and my other two votes needed what they got.

3 Red Shadow of Earth by Lev Bass

As my daughter would certainly testify, I am an avid observer of the moon. Eclipse pictures are not uncommon, but one as beautiful as this one is. I think color adjustment for the flashlight may have affected the moon's color somewhat, but that just gives it a gemlike quality.

3 In my Room by ISO3200
H A Darker Side of K by ISO3200

You may be interested to note that Thumbsplus crops A Darker Side of K to a square that excludes all the black on the left, for the thumbnail view, but does not do the same thing for In my Room.

H Shadow of Despair by Denise Wall

Very well done! The emotion was transmitted through the shadow. I wish I had more points to give out.

H Transparent Shadow by Ann Chaikin

I really like the idea here of the juxtaposition between the brilliant colors and the shadows. I just wish the shadows had been more interesting.

H Shadow on the Sand by Mark J

I think the reason I like this one so much is that the grackle is so black. That makes the shadow more like the subject of focus, and the bird itself its shadow.

H Sphinx by Steve Huff

This is the best picture I've seen of this breed of cat, which normally I find ugly. This picture, on the other hand, is quite beautiful.

Eligible
4 Switch II An Homage to ISO3200 by Michael Moses

This one gets top marks for not just being well done, but also throwing humor into the mix and addressing the theme directly, in more ways than one.

3 Hangin Around by Tim Dahl
Eloquent!

3 Unreal by Rob McGlade

I said it in the comments, but it deserves repeating. This image reminds me of the Metropolis movie (1927). Let's see. Maybe these links will work to show examples of images from the movie:

H shadows of the past by tholo

As far as I know, this is the only picture that shows a relatively permanent shadow created by a real shadow. In essence, it is a photograph of a photograph of a shadow.

5pts - Fence by Vera
Although Ithis shot is one of my favourites among my photos, I know it is not exactly a very creative or original or interesting image, especially when compared to many other splendid images in the gallery. Still, I am ecstatic that someone else also likes it! ;-) thanks very much iso!!

Vera.

A lot of fun. Seeing the camera in the shadow makes it.
