Nikon Rumors says it's to be announced tomorrow.

Im really really tempted.

I have the Plena, so, no - but I can highly recommend the focal length/aperture combination. I think it is useful.

I would assume that the only reason to buy this instead of the Plena would be price.

I might if it's $900. But I'd probably want to try one first before committing to one (i would only get this as I don't shoot a bunch of portraits and for cost reasons, as I can't justify $2500 for the Plena given my use case).

im sticking with the Plena. If you want something cheap at the 135 focal range the Sigma has always been out at a much lesser cost than that of the Plena.

After using the Plena, its definitely worth the price tag. Its a lens i will own for a very long time.

I would love the Plena, however it's way out of my league price wise. The Viltrox fits my pricing at $900.00

I love the 135mm but can't justify a Plena

I would prefer a native Z mount

Yes! Already ordered.

It become available for online order 30 minutes ago. Should arrive on Sunday, hopefully earlier as I fly Monday. Price from the official Viltrox site is $686 where I am, which is a price I cannot ignore. They sell it very slightly cheaper than the Sony mount which is nice.

Will take for a run on Sunday as I am heading to a nearby city. Now I just need to forget I ordered it or I will feel the torture of waiting!

I don't use this FL a lot, so I may give it a try. And according to simulated MTF, the sharpness of this lens should be superior to plena at infinite distance.

viltox 135 lab MTF at infinity at f 1.8
viltox 135 lab MTF at infinity at f 1.8

Nikon z 135 plena MTF at infinity at f 1.8
Nikon z 135 plena MTF at infinity at f 1.8

The Dustin Abbot deep dive review of the Sony mount version of the lens looks excellent

Weight seems to be it's only issue , it is the heaviest of the modern 135mm F/1.8 lenses

Are the F-mount Sigmas (such as their 135) compatible with the Z system?

I liked my Sigma 135mm DG HSM Art but it was heavy. I would not use the Viltrox on my Z8 without a tripod collar.

Yes, with the FTZ II. This thread caused me to put my Sigma 135 ART on my Zf yesterday. It was a pleasure to see the excellent images resulting. The lens is heavy.

I have also successfully used the Sigma 20mm ART, 35mm ART, 40mm ART, 105mm macro and 150mm macro on the Zf with the FTZ II.

Roughly 1300g is probably fine, as i don't think you'd be able to attach a collar anyway. I mean people sling a 70-200 2.8 from their Z8 and other Z cameras without too much issue (or really, none that I've seen) and those are in the 1450g range.

Ordered already!

The Samyang 135mm is missing from this comparison. It's the lightest of the bunch.

As much as I'd like a native Z mount lens, the Viltrox is heavier than all the other options, so it's a no for me. Plus I had focusing issues with the 16mm f/1.8, so I'm leery of the brand.
