I love airshows, but sadly none in local area or real close any more. Great shots. I'm no expert, but one suggestion from something I always battled with, try to concentrate more on lowering the shutter speed for the prop planes, if the propeller looks like it is moving and is a blur, the effect is great. But when the prop is static in photo it looks unreal for real life.

The first bluebird nest of the spring is being built in one of my nest boxes.

Very nice, our second pair showed up this weekend. Unfortunately I never had forsight enough to put a bluebird house somewhere where I could get shots of them like this coming and going unless a had a 4,000mm or more lens. I can watch them and take pictures of little bitty birds by the house, but otherwise have to catch them feeding somewhere. Here's the male of the most recent pair, sooc, shot at 761mm 35mm equiv. so working the 28-400 hard.

The project if finished and loaded with hay ready for spreading.

I thought I would post the finished build complete with hay ready to go. Each bale is 1 ton. Max is very happy to have it finished. We are going on a 3 week caravan trip in the next few days and I can use my Z8 600 pf foe birds and wildlife.

Great shots. It's really easy to forget especially when there are jets and prop planes. You did well.

I bought my 500/4FL in January 2017. For a few years the AF wouldn't work right away, I had to rotate the focus ring in both directions to get it started. I'd last used in a year ago, and a few weeks ago I pulled it out again. The AF was dead, nothing on all 5 of my camera bodies.

Because rotating the focus ring seemed to fix the issue I thought there was something wrong with AF motor. I contacted Nikon as this seemed to be a problem with the FL teles, as several other owners had AF failures, and they paid $650 and $900 for the repairs.

We scheduled a road trip down to southern California so I could drop the lens off at the repair facility. But I reviewed a thread on this topic last night and cleaned the pins as described, which I was reluctant to do before because I was worried about getting crap down inside the lens. I'd already cleaned the camera contacts. But it worked. At first it worked fine on my D500 and D850, but chattered on my Z6 III and Z9 when I tired focusing on some wooden window blinds. This morning I tried it on my Z9 again and came up with this:

Quite a relief. I used IPA last night, 70% alcohol. I'm going to buy some official electrical contact cleaner today.
