I know it's a sily question but anyway here it is:

Which configuration would you prefer for a short trip to a foreing city:

Canon R5 + 24-105 rf 4.0

or

Canon R5 +24-240 rf 4.0 - 6.3

both are more or less the same weight.

Maybe I would add a normal more open prime like 35 mm or 50 mm.

Thanks

:) Well I have both. Love the Fuji but when I need real work to do, the Canon is my choice.

I do mostly concert photography and the latest mirrorles high end Canon cameras are perfect. The x-t4.... not so much.

You really should ask at the Canon forum.

f4

Best opinions are ones outside the echo chamber.

I would take the 35mm prime only. (I mean, I’d take a body, obviously 😉)

U r completely right. :)

Given the similar weight, for travel, I'd probably be more inclined to take 24-240mm f/4.0-6.3 for mere versatility (more reach). Plus a fast 50mm, indeed.

Are you planning to take concert photos during your travel? What is preventing you to consider the Fuji for travel?

That's all fine and dandy, but you're simply asking this question in the wrong forum. This forum is focused on Fujifilm gear (hence the name "Fujifilm X System"). There are many folks here who likely have multiple brands of cameras, in which case you will often find them participating and posting in multiple forums.

I would suggest that you post your perfectly reasonable question in the appropriate Canon forum.

Canon R5 + 24-240mm lens of these two.

I would prefer Fujifilm X-S10 camera with 18-120mm and 23/1,4 and 10/8 lenses really.

I really like R5 with RF 24-105f4.

In an old city with narrow streets a wider lens could be very nice. Or indoors. Perhaps too much weight, but sometimes I have had a 14-35 in the same bag. Too much gear on a short trip is usually too much really...

Thanks.. I started in 1965 :) and also have 2 systems, Fuji and Canon :) you are my Photo twin :)

Perhaps, but my beard is not at all impressive . But I have more hair ! ;-)

My first SLR camera was a Russian made Zenit TL ... Great for seal clubbing I have heard. Canon came some decades later

Replying to your first post Peter. I have both those lenses. I have been to Venice recently with the R5 and 24-240 plus the 16/2.8. A great combination. My previous Venice trip was 5D3, 24-105L, 70-200L and 16-35L, all f4. Boy the R5 setup was so much easier to carry and use! I don’t bother with a fast wide or standard prime as in low light I use a tripod or a high ISO.

Next city trip I might go further and downsize to the R8…
