Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Woodley Island Marina just after sunset.

The weird little lens curved things on the horizontal but not the vertical. Then the stitching emphasized the curve. I sort of like it.

3 panels horizontal with AutoPano Giga.

I don't like going out in the rain if I'm honest WN. However rain is a common occurrence in these parts and after a few days of being confined to quarters my dear wife encourages me to brave the elements. Whether this is for her benefit or mine, I'm not quite sure.

Dave

Thanks Rich. After a few days of being housebound I get a bit grumpy, difficult to believe I know. 😉 So rain or no rain I've got to get out and go somewhere, anywhere.

Dave

Thanks Pete. I've just looked at the forecast for the coming week and it looks promising. Not getting too excited just yet because,as you know, they can get it wrong.

Dave

A lovely place for a walk on such a beautiful day WN. I love to see cherry blossom as it makes me feel winter is over, which is not always true of course.

I like the little guy in the last image. I could do with the help of a few like him in the garden

Is the tearoom open yet?

Dave

You're making great use of the Z8 and the weird little lens Rich. These are wonderful pics.

The first is my choice but they're all excellent.

Dave

Sorry for the title, I couldn't help myself.

The Nikon is primarily a landscape camera, Dave, as others describe it, and the weird little lens suits it nicely for wide landscapes. But I'm just about burnt out on landscapes. I need the birds to come back and the flowers to get to bloomin'. Rich

Dusk and gathering gloom; looks like there might be rain on the way.

Curious effect of the curvature; I winder if you rotated the camera by 90° and took a series to give a panorama with more height to it whether you would see something of a vertical curvature?

Dicky.

Great sunburst in # 1 but I like the surreal effect in #2.

Dicky.

No, but it is a very nice image.

The Gold Coast is getting a shellacking from category two cyclone Albert but we are on the north side of the cyclone. Calm sea, blue sky and no wind or rain.

It is hard to believe that early tomorrow morning it is due to cross the coast just thirty kilometres south of us. All loose impediments have been stowed.

Dicky.

Thanks Rich. I can't take any credit for the plant, it's all down to my good lady.

Dave

Thanks Dicky. I can't get that song out of my head now. Serves me right.

Dave

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best Dicky. Hope the cyclone passes you by.

Dave

You get a bit more control with ICE, maybe?, as to stitching effects?? or perhaps Hugin (but I have to relearn how to use it every time since I use it so infrequently.

A nice image Rich. Where is the snow! As to sandhill cranes, I have not gone to look. I saw a while ago in the midst of our coldest weather, that Lake Erie was 90% frozen over. The likely hood of birds was not high so I have not bothered to go look. The previous two years they were about in February but it was warmer and I think they overwintered there. This year I suspect they did not!!! Hard to stick your beak into the mud when it is solid!!
