What is the name of the exact "Lumix App" you are using?
Are you talking about the free Image App (for older models) or the Lumix Syn (for newerodels) for image transfer and remote operation through wifi?
Its called 'Panasonic Image app' its probably the older one as I had the same model of camera previously but it got damaged and family got me a new one for my birthday.
OK, as this is a smartphone based apps (not for computer), I guess you are talking about transfer photos from camera to smartphone or remote control by smartphone using wifi.
The apps would ask for a password, but is no difference from doing wifi connection with any smartphone to any wifi device. If your apple phone/tablet would be similar to my Android devices, the password is one time (first time connection) which will be then memorized by the device for later connection.
The password is provided by your camera.
If you connect your camera to a computer, it would not use the Image App. So I guess this might not concern here. However the connection could be a nightmare and I never success (connect to my windows PC). As far as I can remember my wifi router would ask for a password to log on to the network. Hence it is not a request from your camera, so not the Image App since it plays no role at all. :-(
Again after the first time connection, these would be (I was told) memorized by your camera to become easy. If you upgraded your computer, you have to do all from start again.
The camera is Panasosonic Lumix model DC-FZ82. I’m not sure whether this model would be considered old or new! Would the Lumix Syn app work with my model I could try that one instead?
The Syn app should be for higher end M43 Panasonic cameras, e.g. the flagship class G9 or GH6/7 or the Full Frame L mount system models. FZ82 might not be compartible to this newer app. Please check the compartiblity list of the app.
TBH, under the restrictions of wifi (download speed, power uses, no raw nor video etc), I prefer to transfer images by using a card reader. The Image App is good for remote control only IMHO.
You might also wish to post this on Panasonic Compact Talk as your camera is belonging to. I trusted more owners of your particular camera might help you there.
