OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 II Lens

My guess is 'no'.

It's still not a 'Pro' lens, and the 150-600 is also limited to 25fps.

That's an amazing video, Jim. It's sad, but it's also life -- much like this sad shot from my backyard last year.

That's not sad, it's great for the hawk which did not go hungry that day. The bird that became its meal almost certainly at some point in its life ate insects -- do you not feel sorry for the insects that fed the small bird that fed the hawk?

I come from Panasonic MFT use, but have just purchased a used E-M1 mark iii which is fabulous! Anybody know if this new 100-400mm will be Sync-IS compatible with it, or just the OM Systems cameras?

Thanks,

John

It will be, no worries there. E-M1iii IBIS is already excellent and sync-IS improves it further (I use with 300/4 and 12-100).

Cheers,

Rick

I put my pre-order in for the OM 100-400ii today.

I'm #3 on the list at my local camera store.

Will get to see/get hands on it next Tuesday.

Hopefully it's waiting for me when I get back from Hawaii 3/12.

(Wish I could pick it up sooner...)

If you want to hang on for your lens I'll go to Hawaii for you if you like?

That's a generous offer, but, the camera shop called back yesterday to let me know OM System says they won't be delivering the 100-400 IS ii until the end of March, so, I'll be back from Hawaii well before I could get the lens anyway.

I got a letter from OM Systems yesterday saying the same thing, end of March, kind of disappointing.

As mpb.com sells the original 100-400 in excellent condition for between $800+ and nearly $900, I think that you might get $400 for your sale to them(?).
I just sold my original 100-400 in like new condition to MPB and received $490. (I have preordered the mark ii.

I noticed the II version adds weight to the lens.

Original recipe 1120 g (2.47 lb)
Modifications add recipe1300 g (2.87 lb)
According to the official OM System website the Mkii is 1,125g (without Tripod Adapter, Lens Cap, Lens Rear Cap and Lens Hood). The Mki is 1,120g but it doesn’t specify what that includes but I believe that is also the weight of the lens only, so the difference is probably only 5g in the lens itself.

I had relied on DP Review and B&H for the figures. I just checked with Adorama's site and they list the new version as:

2.46 lbs (1.12kg) (without tripod adapter, lens cap, lens rear cap and lens hood)
2.86 lbs (1.30kg) (with tripod adapter, without lens cap, lens rear cap, and lens hood)

It sounds as though maybe nothing changed.
