** Weekly Fuji X-Series Photo-Sharing Thread February 1-7, 2025 **

Two images for the week. Another (wider angle) from Silver Falls State Park and Avenue of the Giants (for the redwood trees).

The waterfall is three images with a focus stack trying out Luminar focus stack feature. Pretty happy with it, but wished the water wouldn't have blown out quite so much- that happened in each of the three shots.

Both images with a bit of further editing with Photomator and/or Apple Photos. C&C welcome.

I thought that waterfall looked familiar. We're not all that far away from Silver Falls and paid it another visit a couple of months ago. A couple of really lovely shots... thanks for sharing.

Thank you Morris, for the feedback and the good question. I agree the last seems an odd choice as it is clearly not the cleanest image from a technical perspective. A couple reasons I liked it anyways:

1) it was the first sighting of the owl - so for me it is the memory of realizing what I was looking at - I probably said something like "oh sh*t" as I hit the shutter button.

2) I think it is slightly humorous as the owl's position says "bet you can't see me behind this helpful stick" and the eyes have a lot of character.

3) There is a lot of talk about Fujifilm autofocus. But I think this is an example of it functioning very well in a complex situation. I am working to minimize user error and understand the settings and I think a few months ago I would not have achieved focus quickly (or at all).

These common Ibis made a good subject to test a little more with the new XF 500 with the 1.4 attached. Comments welcome.

Mark, my bank manager has asked me to ask you to cease posting images using the 500/f5.6 as they are 'absolutely superb images' and 'she' fears I may succumb GAS and buy one!

Very nice layering in your photo. I hear California will be getting more rain, and snow in the Sierras.

Thanks, and indeed rain is predicted but the forecast keeps changing where I live. We re supposed to get our carpeting mid-week, just when it is supposed to rain. Ugh!

Some shots from the Burrell Collection, today where there were celebrations ongoing for the Chinese new year, and then onto the Riverside (Transport) Museum, where there was a StarWars exhibition as well as the usual great displays.

Used the Viltrox 27mm and 75mm with my Fujifilm X-T3…… they make quite a good pairing…

Cheers, Bob.

LOL, I'm not to blame. It's Fuji. Mark

I was going to make a humorous comment on the Ibis but Morris beat me to it. Even though the first is a good capture, I like the second for its simplicity and beauty.
Bob Morris can bring a little humor, which I enjoy. Thanks for the comment.

I just want to try how much details remain after crop. Here is the comparison.

Handheld photos with Fujifilm X-H2S+Fujinon XF500mm
This is an excellent example of how this combo holds up to cropping. It's a beautiful image also.

Beautiful series.

This is an excellent set. The compositions and tonal contrasts are great! I like 2, 4 and 10 the best.

As an aside, is the Burrell Collection worth a visit? I haven't been since before its renovations.

Thanks.

I was never in the building before the renovation, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but all I know is my wife, daughter and myself love the place.

There's something about the quality of light in the place that really makes the most of the exhibits....

If I could fault anything, it would be some of the plaques detailing what you are looking at appear to have been written by 9 year-olds.. "these pillars would have come from a big house of a very important person" .. I'm like "don't bury me with too much detail" 🤣🤣.

Cheers again, Bob.

One from the archives, unusual light that created blue and emerald sea.

C&C fine.
