Just got the X100 VI and noticed when I put spot focus to the edge of the screen and then playback, when I zoom in on playback it goes to the center of the image, not to the focus point of my subject at the edge of the screen. Is there a way to fix this, zoom in on focus point?? Thanks.

Did you move the AF box to the edge of the screen and shoot, or did you turn the camera with the AF box in the center, lock focus and recompose? If you didn't move the AF box, you don't really know where the actual focus point is. Focus and recompose isn't really a good way to focus accurately.

No, I moved the focus point to the edge.. Zoom in and it goes to the center of the image. Just wondering if there is a way to zoom into the focus point rather than the center of the image all the time.

Are you pressing the rear command dial button in playback mode? If I shoot with the AF box off to the side, pressing the button in playback zooms in to the actual focus point (off to the side) on every Fuji camera I've used (including my X100V). If you lock focus with the AF box in the center, zooming in playback will go to the center.

Why?
Because if you lock focus and move the camera, the spot you focused on will almost certainly no longer be in perfect focus, especially if the subject is at close range, and/or is also moving in any way. I suppose if you’re focusing at a distance and shooting stopped way down it might not matter much, but if you’re working with a limited depth of field, it definitely does.

If either you or your subject are potentially moving at all, focusing with the AF box positioned at the desired focus point and shooting simultaneously with a full-press of the shutter button (no pause at a half-press) will typically yield the best AF result as the exposure will happen at the moment of focus acquisition, not a second or two later, usually guaranteeing optimally sharp result - including with moving subjects.

Because when you rotate the camera to its new orientation, the field of focus shifts with it.

Moat of the time it’s not a big deal—works fine for stuff like street. When it becomes an issue is with very shallow depth of field, particularly macro. I also find it can be an issue with old lenses that can have both very strong field curvature and large apertures.

I very rarely move the focus box with modern AF lenses, but I do it all the time using manual 35mm lenses on GFX.

Not sure about the 100VI but on my X-T50 if I play back an image I can rotate the front control dial to zoom in from the centre of the image or press the rear control dial which zooms in directly to the focus point.

I figured this out. Instead of zooming with the rear control dial, you push the rear control dial and it zooms into the focus point. If you just turn the rear control dial it zooms into the center of the image.

Yes, this fixes it, push rear control dial instead of turning rear control dial. I discovered last night reading the manual. Like I said, new to Fuji... Thanks!!

Thanks, yes, figured this out last night reading the manual.
