The Pentax K-3 Mark III has been added to the list of discontinued products on Ricoh Imaging's Japanese website.

生産終了製品 = Discontinued Products
デジタル一眼カメラ = DSLRs

The K-1 Mark II, K-3 Mark III Monochrome and KF are the current DSLRs.

My advice to anyone sitting on the fence about a K-3 Mark III is to get it while you can.

That means the doors will be closed soon...

New products will come in February. However, I don't read anywhere that k3iii has been discontinued.

It certainly is listed as discontinued...

K5iii must be on its way.

it will fit nicely with the much talked about HD DA55-550mm F/4-6.3 PLM AW.

That's not good. Hopefully they have something else lined up (K-3IV), but I have a pretty big feeling that they don't. :-|

Could be a K3iiis coming down the pipeline?

A few tweaks to the K3iii like they did with the K5, K5ii and the K5iis.

This is either great news .. or terrible news!

I really hope that we will know soon! Maybe the CP+ show?

K3-IIIs would be nice! Faster electronics .. better video .. little tweaks... Fingers crossed!

Best,

M

Pentax will again miss CP+. They will be present at the 2025 Photography and Video Show (8-11 March 2025, ExCel London). Interestingly, the Ricoh brand will not be present there.

My wish camera. Same body with days technology.

Could be. It could also be like the K-70 where some of the components they sourced were no longer available so they swapped in newer bits and called it (bizarrely) the KF.

Wait and see time.

Very true.

Is there any application filled by Ricoh to allow the use of Wifi bands by a digital camera device? Usually that precedes the introduction of flagship models. Film cameras do not need Wifi...

There is an application filed in South Korea for 'R07010' in September 2024. The applicant is Ricoh, not Ricoh Imaging, therefore this camera is most likely a Theta camera.

Model names:
  • R01010: Pentax K-1 Mark II
  • R02010: Ricoh GR III
  • R02020: Ricoh Theta Z1
  • R02022: Ricoh Theta Z1 51GB
  • R02050: Ricoh WG-6
  • R02060: Ricoh G900
  • R02070: Ricoh G900SE
  • R03010: Pentax K-3 Mark III / K-3 Mark III Monochrome
  • R03030: Ricoh Theta SC2
  • R03040: Ricoh WG-70
  • R04010: Ricoh Theta X
  • R05010: Ricoh GR IIIx
  • R05020: Ricoh WG-7
  • R06010: Pentax KF
  • R06020: Ricoh WG-80
  • R07010: ?
  • R07020: Pentax WG-90
  • R08010: Pentax 17
  • R08040: Pentax WG-1000
  • R08050: Pentax WG-8
  • R08060: Ricoh G900 II
  • R08070: Ricoh G900SE II
There are two 'holes' in the internal numbering of the recently announced Ricoh / Ricoh Imaging cameras: R08020 and R08030.

But it's impossible to know what type of camera these references correspond to or when they will be announced. Furthermore, the project may be cancelled along the way (it has already happened:! there are no cameras corresponding to R02030, R02040 or R03020).
