Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Very nice trip, and beautiful B&W interpretations .... Pete ... I always enjoy these visits to historic churches.. and this one has me thinking back to the power of the church in the 12th century .. and locally in our current season .... thinking about the relationship between church and state and the relationship of faith and beliefs in both .. but I'll leave that for now and think about it more after I leave the internet! ....

Interesting Sunday morning .....

I always like these panos , Rich ... but you seem to be a dark mood recently .. I had to open this up and enjoy those green pastures! ...

Eleven images stitched in ICE but cropped away the sides so about seven images left.

I tired to post this twice earlier but the file was too large so I had to downsize it to 62% of the size so I will see if that uploads.

A very dramatic looking result Rich.

We went out for dinner with friends last night. I had butter chicken. I think my stomach is 'breaking up' now, and for several hours preceding now! I should know better!

Nice view, Andrew ... but that field ought to be filled with cranes!! .... but then I guess they are on their way down here!!! ....

I enjoyed sitting in your yard for a while WN. The woodpecker is certainly a handsome visitor.
Thanks, Pete .. You're always welcome to sit at that table I have set up in the yard and watch the birds come and go ... and I always provide my guests with coffee or tea or ... well whatever ... BTW they don't really think of themselves as visitors ... there is always a debate about ownership ...

Thanks, WhyNot. I was in a great mood but the weather was not.

Here's more green pastures from that day, from the same place I made the pano. I had to have some color, too. Rich

I like this picture and the idea .. I might like to open up the photographer a very little, maybe only the backpack, to bring her more into the composition ...

We do a lot of walk abouts here and might like a walk through your neighborhood some time ....

Thanks, Pete. I like to catch the egrets fishing but they usually keep a fair distance. I got this one by using the 150-400 with 2x teleconverter at 1000mm. f/11 is wide open with the 2x.

Air traffic control with pelicans made me laugh.

Is that a poisonous mushroom? I don't know what MO means.

I wanted you to see this. The 150-400 with 2x teleconverter. Hand held and it was hard to keep it in the center of the frame, if in it at all. f/11 is wide open with the 2x. I was happy with the result. Rich

Where is air traffic control when you need it?

Those all look nice,
Thank you, Charlotte
but I like the woodpecker that stares right at you
A constant companion as long as I feed him! and at times he lets me know what he wants ....
and the tit the best.
Thank you again .... but that tit is a chickadee ...
I thought tits was the collective term for all Paridae. Isn't it?
Well now you've got be doing more than just photographing them .. I read that the tit and chickadee are of the same family but but different genus's the tit fom the Periparus and the chickadee the Poecile So the chickadee is not a tit, I guess ... that is one internet note and interpretation I read but reading Wikipedia one might think they could be referred to as tits ... especially by you living in Europe! ... We do like to rename things over here, just think of our Robin that really isn't .... anyway "What is a name ... "...

I was out looking for birds at the local nature center when I came across this woman walking around with this owl. She obviously didn't want to be approached, but I did get this shot of her.

As you can see, the owl is on a tether. Any idea what she's doing with it?

Rehabilitating an injured bird?

Training a captured bird?

or something else?
