Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Nice shots WN.

Also nice that you can still reprocess your old images. With how many generations of cameras/file formats have transpired since 2009 it's good to know that ability is still supported.

The Olympus/OM brand has obviously served you well as you've stuck with it this long.

I enjoyed the visit to the beach .. I did notice a couple testing the water but I expect that its temperatures are influenced by the arctic flow along that coast .. I do remember the surge of people coming in from the valley on weekends to Monterey that one summer I was there. Escaping the heat but none of them ended up on the beach ... I think I saw one swimmer in a wet suit that entire summer and never that many people on any of the beaches just rotting kelp ...

Nice set .. I enjoy seeing these birds ... especially those I'll not see here unless they get lost on their way south ....

Well these are easy because in those days I usually did not save the raw files but only the JPGs and these were reprocessed from those ... Then again I still have the Canon Photo Professional on the computer and still use the Olympus OM software to convert the Raw files that have been retrained on subsequent cameras up to the M1.2 .. I suspect that I would have to change to OM Workspace if i updated my cameras to the OM system but so far haven't had a reason to do so ...

At the time I staredt this I was only putting a toe in the waters and wanted to start with their entry level camera and in those days both the Canon and Nikon entry level cameras were very uncomfortable to my hand but very available locally ,.... This forum convinced me to try the 4/3rds system and B&H mail order! ..... I wanted to buy the Panasonic G1 but being version 1.0 I decided to try Olympus instead ... and I 'm still here ...

A very nice looking area Joe. Also, to me, it looks like an easy place to drown with that rolling surf. I suspect there is a significant undertow. No one really in the water, more like getting a bit wet near the shore. I am guessing the water is not terribly warm. I 'swam' in Lake Ontario as a youth when the temperature was as low as 48 F. My parents did not have air conditioning then so that was how you cooled off when it was hot.

Nice to see Joe. My wife and I paid to go on a whale watching excursion out of Long Beach, CA. We saw fins but no breaches. You did better from the shore for free! Never had fresh anchovies. I wonder what they taste like. Likely far different from the salted ones that come preserved and we put on pizzas!
