LightRoom Classic doing something weird to RAW R5ii files

13.5 LrC update

16.5 Camera Raw

Mac Air M2

I recently purchased a Canon R5 mk ii and shot about 1100 wildlife photos the other day. I imported them last night and working on sorting, etc. today.

For reasons that are mysterious to me, LrC has decided to add a blue hue to some of the RAW files when scrolling through them in "develop". I can get rid of it by selecting the image that LrC has chosen, click "reset" and it reverts it back to what I would expect to see.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Here is what it's doing. The first image is what LrC decides to do, the second is after resetting. The second is accurate as it was a very gray, overcast day.

I suspect that you need to change the default file handling settings if you want the look to be the same as in camera.

Perhaps some preset is being applied in LrC. Please examine the History Panel to see if a preset is applied.

Strange. When looking at both images EXIF they are both using whitebalance "as shot" but the blue one is set to 4 300K "as shot" and after you reset, the "as shot" has been changed to 5700K which of course is more natural in that scene/light.

Puzzling. No clue what this is but clearly something is up with the color management and profiles for this camera. Rumour has it Adobe are working with Canon to get DPP integrated as a plugin. Perhaps they are not spending any time on the support right now and leave minor bugs as is...

I can't agree with this. Adobe has fixed bugs and released 13.5 with a number of bug fixes recently. Every release has bug fixes.

Of course, this isn't confirmed as a bug. Could be user error or something else.

Thank you for all of the above responses.

I was unable to find anything different in the settings than when I previously used LrC with photos from the R6ii. I was highly suspected that Abobe and the R5ii files.

Utterly confounded, I hard shut down the mac, waited a while and restarted and it stopped doing it. So, while fixed, I have no clue what was happening.

Re-starting: always a good thing to try!

It's always the "i have no idea what the hell else to try" last ditch thing. HA!

Nope, resetting preferences is always the first thing to try when Lightroom Classic does something unusual/unexpected.
