Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

They are indeed. Those alas perished on the beach. They were still alive when I took the pics but there was no way to return them to the sea.

They are also remarkable about what they can grow on. In may ocean sailing days some sixty years ago there were no electronic logs. I used a "Walker log" that towed a spinner on the end of a rope and counted the revolutions to give distance traveled. After a week at sea there would be goose barnacles growing on the rotating rope!

Great use of BW and some beautiful roses. We call the last one a dog rose. For Jake?

It's been a disappointing year in the garden thanks to the very poor summer weather. Less than average temperatures and above average rainfall.

The first lily appeared only a few days ago.

There's a few roses left.

You will note the raindrops on these. Taken during a very brief break in the weather.

The lilies are running a bit late it seems, but perhaps you will have a good run with them in the coming days.

The raindrops look great with the sunlight.

That lily was worth waiting for. The rose is a beauty too.

Hard to believe it will be spring here in two weeks time. We have have had a very cold and wet winter. But tomorrow we will be teased with 29°C during the day - then winter will return. But it goes in cycles; the last summer and winter like the last one were in 1983 so I won't complain too much.

Dicky.

I think the pose says "Are you going to stand there all day with that camera or are you going to feed me"?

Thanks Dicky.

The last decent summer weather we enjoyed was during the COVID lockdown when you couldn't go anywhere. You couldn't make it up. 😭

There's a few more lilies in bloom today and an abundance of raindrops, Craig

Both lovely images Dave.

You got more rain and cooler temperatures than normal, we got the opposite. Far warmer here than usual and periods of drought separated by downpours that ran off quickly. Good growing seasons here for some crops and I did not see as much irrigation as usual but I was not out as much as usual so maybe I just did not see it.

Hopefully your weather will improve. We have had a few summers of rain over the years but not many.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew

The weather is beyond our control and we just have to put up with what we get. Gives us something to moan about.

Macro Jake! Well perhaps not macro but macro lens!

Flash on the flowers Craig? Both look a tad overexposed for my taste but we are all different. Lovely flowers and nicely composed images.

I just finished mowing the entire property, raked up some clipping immediately in front of the house (the rest are where they fell). Also pulled some weeds. I know I will regret this. Some muscles are already complaining. It has been a while now since they had any significant use. I cut at less than half speed. Likely about a third of normal. The back was complaining a bit before I went out so I will see how that plays out. The tractor is finally fixed, I think! It seems to be ok so hopefully no more repairs this year.

Baseball tonight if it does not get rained out. I think only tonight's game and one tomorrow morning (playoffs) unless there is a top two after this. No idea.

I have images ready to go for the next thread. That has not happened for a while.
