Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

I would venture to suggest that the subject matter is undeserving of your photographic efforts,Craig.

Pointing something other than a camera lens at the nameless ones might bring more satisfaction. 😊

It's a great image nevertheless.

Dave
Thanks, Dave.

The unnamed continue their occupation and their numbers grow.

but a couple of colour images as well.

An interesting set Harvey. From these it would seem more of the women go all out in 'getting the look' than the men. A few men dressed up with jackets but far more women as a percentage with eye catching apparel, hats and fashion accessories. A life style out of the ordinary on display.

The Fuji 500 mm with a TC Craig? While artistic they are still 'the undesirable'. I drove past the downtown park in Simcoe yesterday and the pond there, river, and park itself was filled with them. I did not see many ducks around. I don't mind the geese themselves but they leave massive droppings everywhere. You can not walk in the park without getting your footwear covered.

The Fuji 500mm with 1.4 TC.

The unnamed are everywhere it seems.

The robin in its nest is terrific Dicky. I like the blue fruit as well. I had to look closely to find the crab. No crabs in these parts, other than the two legged variety. My wife seems to think I belong to that group at times, perhaps lots of times.

Sometimes it would cost too much to restore them Craig, and sometimes the owner wants a 'different look and experience'. This particular one had painted chrome work and the body and paint work was not great. It likely looks better as a rod than if kept original, given the deterioration and difficulty of finding parts. It becomes an enjoyable experience for the owner to get an eye catching fun ride within the limits of what they want to spend.

I have a bunch of images of what happened to my 84 Vette. It has morphed into an hot rod old truck. I don't have a complete set of images unfortunately and I did not take any of them. I may post them if I can get some of my own images of the completed project. Not sure it is quite there yet. The vette was not worth the cost of restoration as it was not a desirable vintage. It would have cost more to make it desirable to drive than I could have bought another of similar vintage but perhaps a couple of years newer. Truth be told I would rather have the newer style that did not have flip up headlights. A sixties style I would like better but far more money than I would want to spend on a Corvette. Newer cars are reliable and more fuel efficient. The 2012 Mustang GT has 412 horsepower, does 60 mph in 4.2 s and gets 9 L/100 km (a little better than 30 mi/imp gal. Not sure what that is in U.S. gal). Turn the key and it goes. Good brakes which are especially nice compared to old rides that have the original brakes of the times.

Thanks Dicky.

The house is old school stucco with stone for texture but it has been painted. I believe you are spot on about the car paint surfaces and the stucco!

That one is far better looking Chris. Looks like a 37 but could be a different vintage. Very nice paintwork on that and the wheels look quite similar. If the owner is smart and drives it then perhaps it has disc brakes behind them!

It is a matter of resources and personal taste. My tastes run a bit different than the owners of these cars it seems. It's a different world for me.
