Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Craig... In June 2024

Median price in Pacifica on the western side of Skyline: $1,374,000

Median price in So. San Franciso on the eastern side: $1,265,000

The larger homes higher up on the hillside with views would go for quite a bit more than the median.

Dave... the coastal roads get a lot of fancy car and motorcycle traffic on the weekends. One of the best places to watch is at Alice's Restaurant in Woodside on Highway 84 (very twisty 2 lane) or at the San Gregorio General Store at Highway 84 and Stage Road in San Gregorio.

Name a fancy motorcycle or an even fancier sports car and you will see it on a nice Sunday afternoon.

Dicky... on a foggy day the difference is usually 5-10F degrees warmer on the inland side of the highway and as much as 30-40 degrees warmer inland in the valley.

I have friends in Pacifica on the western side of the fault. Love to tease them about waking up in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Beautiful scenery... the first with the white flowers is really nicely done.

Coolio... too bad it's stuck in the building. Not much room to work. I lived near a busy railroad line when I was a kid. Miss the old trains. Don't miss having to wait for them to cross however. :-)

Thanks Andrew. I'm desperately trying to keep active for as long as I can so I can enjoy the great outdoors. I used to go out in all weathers but nowadays I wait for a dry day. It can be a long wait 😄.

Thanks Joe. Your nice comment makes my aches and pains more bearable.

I've had a desire to visit Italy but never actually made it Dicky. Love the food and wine of course and your images make me wish I'd tried harder.

The E500 was my first digital slr and I loved it for the great colour it produced. Your images demonstrate that ability nicely.

It's an interesting challenge. I have no doubt the fisheye will deliver but in the event it doesn't, you can call in the axe-wielding co-eds from Humboldt State who will make quick work of the trainshed.
Nope, Craig, I didn't think you were being overly critical. Constructive criticism one way to get better at this and yours is always acceptable because you are an excellent photographer and also not a jerk. 🤣

I am going back with 8-25, 7-14 and 8mm fisheye.

This is how that locomotive looks from the outside. I had to work around all the stuff stacked inside. It is removed when the roundhouse is open for visitors, but the visitors make the photography more difficult than the inanimate impediments. Rich
