Fastest card for G9ii?

What is the fastest card it can take advantage of?

I need to get another card. When I stick in Alexa card, that list itself as 280 MB right, it’s moving as slow as molasses. The Sandis card with the 300 Right, seems to move pretty well.

But with a new card do I need 300 or can I go slower?

Fastest "card" is a SSD with more than 1000MB/s - enough for ProRes HQ. That is also cheaper than SDcard.

SSD in g9ii slot????

V90 from a major maker and from a trusted retailer, so as to avoid counterfeits. Sony, Sandisk, Lexar should all be fine. Format in-camera.

I use the Sandisk extreme portable 2TB.

Be careful, in my experience, my delkin and adata v90 cards all have passes slower than 90mb/s at times (which is slower than the slowest speeds I get out of my Samsung Pro Plus cards, which are v30 but write at >92 mb/s) which is just below their minimum guarantee, and well below the 200 plus mb/s I get with the other three readings in any given 4 run sequence.

I found most consistently that my rocket V60s always seem to deliver at least 170 mb/s write on every test I've ever thrown at them, so I use them pretty much across the board now. Yes I'm giving up a >200mb/s write speed, but based off my testing I'm guaranteeing myself at least 170 Mb/s minimum every time, Which is more than sufficient for my needs.

Yes I'd rather have a guaranteed minimum of 170, than have one of my v90 cards puke my output because they're only putting out 90 mb/s at a critical moment. It doesn't happen often for me but for professionals and videographers that could become important.

I am using these cards for my G9ii currently, works really well although they can cause issues with the OG G9.

No, the SSD must not dangle. Do not risk you data nor the USB port. Most people rig the camera for SSD (search Smallrig) but I like it fast and easy so I velcro tape it.

With G9m2 the SSD is the one and only way for the high bitrate formats 800-1900 Mbps. If you do not like it you may go for the GH7 and use CF-cards. But SD Cards are way to slow and max out at 600 Mbps with the G9m2.

I haven't heard of Alexa or Sandis but they sound like cheap brands trying to sound like Lexar and Sandisk. Go with something more reputable for a start.

Certain modes require a V90 card. For other modes, the only advantage of the V90 card would be clearing the buffer, which should be faster.

Those numbers - 280 and 300 - are read speeds, not write speeds, so they have little bearing on performance. Read speeds are commonly used as 'headline' speeds because they sound better due to being bigger numbers. Using the highly recommended Kingston Canvas React Plus as an example, the write speed of the V60 card is only 150 MB/s, but the V90 is 260 MB/s so a huge difference.

Unfortunately there is also huge difference in price, and for many people a V60 card will give them all the performance they need.

Thanks, but yes, I know the difference, and I was only referring to the write speeds as listed on the card.
