It's a big week in the UK aviation calendar with RIAT and Farnborough International coming up. Yesterday I watched the F15s of the Royal Danish AF and the new F15QAs of Qatar being put through their paces. All OM-1 and Oly 100-400

A dichotomy...beautiful photos...machines for killing

Wow, AMAZING photos, Trevor. Good job. The F15 ones are brilliant. My favorites by far.

BTW, I really though you were showing pictures shot at very small apertures :-D

I look at F-15s and think they say "Don't mess with me. I will end you." I look at F-16s and think they say "Wheeeeee...Catch me if you can!" LOL

I love military aircraft, even though they represent the penultimate expression of homo sapiens's ability to kill others of our own species. :-(

Great selection of images Trevor, I have spent too much time on cameras sites as F15 and F16 made my first thought that your post was about lenses

Phew, gees Trevor. Superb shots and amazing views, been looking forward to more from you with these. Great stuff.

All the best in the UK, you are at the top with your airshow shots, no doubt about it.

Danny.

Thanks Danny. I shall be at RIAT tomorrow and Monday so that will be some full cards. After many years I am finally getting much more brutal with my deletions on my first pass which speeds the process a bit. I expect to see some others posting more great airshow shots here during the next few days.

Incidentally next February I set off for 5 weeks down under, not as far as you but time in Singapore, NSW and Tasmania. The Aussies have some very nice aviation museums that I will be visiting I look forward to posting my first Aussie birds on here.

Awww nice. Looking forward to the airshow shots and your trip down under. Singapore has natural bird areas with tons of colored birds and different Kingfisher, ahhh my dream 😉

Theorists. Looks good on paper, just not photographic printing paper.

Nice stuff! Thanks

I spent yesterday in a wood at Roves Farm, not far from Fairford - could hear lots but couldn't see anything. I did see one of the display teams make a large smoke ring in the sky when I walked out into the car park.

I'll be back there today - not looking forward to the traffic.

traffic was kind to me today, so hope you had a similar experience.

Gotta love the red paint job on that F16

Very nice pics all round

Yes, thank you. It's normally a 45 minute drive and, at 07:00, that's exactly what it took. It was a bit slower going home but not really worse than a normal Saturday afternoon.

How was your day at RIAT?

Good as always, although I thought the flying display was a bit weaker than usual, not helped by the overcast conditions.

The F-15 is loaded for bear!

Nice shots! Planning to do the same next year with the G9ii + Pana 100-400 (the new one hopefully).

Really nice work Trevor.

Curious what shooting mode you were mostly using?
