Canon EOS R Live Event 17.07.24

If it's indeed a product launch, they have kept it really quiet this time around. If we don't start seeing details a few hours ahead of actual launch, they have really managed to plug it very well

There have been lots of speculation around R1/R5 ii purely based on anticipation of obvious product roadmap, but how likely is it that any of those will drop without a lens or few accompanying them. No talk of that (in specific terms)
Yup, waiting with bated breath!!!

R1 might have 64mp sensor, 9792 x 6528.

Don't hold your breath on that - the prime intended user target for the R1 do not need more than 6.4 mp - more likely something between 20 to 30 mp in my mind

The press photographer whose image caught the bullet that whizzed by Donald Trump on Saturday was using the new Sony A9iii (24mp) and the images were being sent to his editor in real time. 64mp doesn't cut it for photojournalism.

Maybe I’m mistaken but I thought he was using a 50MP A1.
Maybe I'm mistaken. I thought that's what Fro said yesterday on his video about the press photographers. I'll check shortly.

UPDATE: I just checked, you were right, it was the A1 at 1/8000th of second. My mistake, thanks for the correction.

https://www.canonrumors.com/here-are-a-couple-of-images-of-the-eos-r1-and-eos-r5-mark-ii/

Also...

"We were off a bit on the launch prices, the EOS R5 Mark II is higher than $3999, and the EOS R1 is lower than the $6499 that we reported."
Will be interesting to see if we have to pay 5000€ in europe. :-D

But I would guess so reading the rumors.
Well if Canonrumours is to be believed it’s gonna be more than $4000 here in the US.

We signed up with everyone we could in the UK for pre-order r52. No info from any or from Canon.

Grey importers also the same. Spoke to a few this morning.

Why doesn't? What do you think would be different if that camera had the same specs but say a 45-60Mp sensor?

The final image would have approx twice as many pixels in it.
