Ive been looking for a Z8 for weeks (since summer discounts were announced). The discount period is about to expire and there hasnt been one to find in the UK. Anyone know what the problem is. Is the Z8 going to reappear at the original price or is it going to comeback as a Z8ii.

Confused.

I have no idea when the Z8 will be back in stock but you can order from Wex and they will not take any payment until the item is dispatched. Some sellers require a deposit but Wex don't and you can cancel at any time.

I've done this several times and there is no problem at all. You have to provide card details and they will put a token for that amount on your card but it will be removed after a week. I did this recently with the Z6III expecting it would take several weeks or months and it arrived the following week.

I just had a look on the Wex site and they have Z8(s) in stock in Manchester.

Nikon have been pushing out the Z6 III as production runs, nothing else to read into it.

I do not recommend this site, but I've used it and had no trouble. I get third party accidental warranties for expensive gear anyway, and piece of mind. ;)

I ordered one from Panamoz (don’t shoot me) and it arrived in 5 days. No problems so far…

Well, it is $500 off which is pretty big (at least here in the US, not sure about the UK or other regions)... but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't sold out for a while. But now that the Z6 II has been out for about 2 weeks, I think some are probably just going all out and getting a Z8 instead so the availability is getting scarce because of that and the constant sale on it.

Too bad, because if you were in the US I could probably hook you up with a local dealer that might have some or be able to get one for you. They've been able to pull miracles for me in the past...

in stock at Panamoz for £2810

- where I have bought any new Nikons, Z and dslrbodies and lenses since my D500

The £3299 price including 20% sales tax seems to have exceeded stock levels.

Several UK retailers will reserve 1 for you when supplies arrive at the current discounted level.

Not sure about Nikon cameras. I believe Nikon USA dealers are not supposed to ship Nikon cameras and lenses outside of the US (but including the Caribbeans), not even to Canada. Of course you can have a US-based friend purchase a Z8 from B&H and then reship to the UK.

It would be vastly more expensive to do that by the time you take currency exchange and pay the various taxes The Nikon UK summer sale price of £3299 includes VAT and is £600 (about $800) less than the normal £3999 price. In fact you can get the Z8 with 24-120 in the official summer sale for £3999 - normal price is £4839. As I said above, you can order the camera while the sale is on at the sale price and take delivery when it is in stock.

If he really needs it, B&H does ship internationally.
The last time I looked B&H had a note saying they did not ship to UK.

Shipping from USA takes time, there are import duties on arrival in UK and if paying in $US a card transaction fee perhaps as high as 3 or 4% to £UK.

I do not see the UK listed as a country they won’t ship to. Here’s a screenshot and a link. I’m certainly not saying this is a cheap way to get the camera, but simply one way to get the camera from a reputable dealer who has it in stock.

That is merely the general export restriction, as the US government prohibits certain trade with countries such as North Korea, Iran .... However, Nikon USA has further regulation, as Nikon USA does not want to violate Nikon Europe's territory. I would imagine B&H can ship a Nikon lens cap to the UK, but not Nikon USA camera bodies and lenses. Gray-market items are not under Nikon USA's rules, though.

But as I said, an individual in the US can buy a Z8 from B&H and then turns around and ship that Z8 to the UK privately. Cost is a different issue.

I'm in the UK and there is no restriction on buying a Z8 from B&H and having it shipped to the UK. If there was, it would show up on the page as being restricted as the site detects country of the browser. I've never bought from B&H but I recall searching for other items in the past which were restricted. However, it would be madness to buy one for cost reasons as already stated.

Exactly. There is nothing anywhere on their site that indicates they won't ship to the UK. Some are making assumptions based on nothing factual or directly from their site.

It is not my assumption. Henry Postner, formerly with B&H but retired recently, pointed that out to me a number of years ago. Perhaps Nikon USA's rules have changed since then.

Years ago, I had a friend in Germany. He wanted to take advantage of a 24-70/2.8 AF-S sale available at Adorama. He would be coming to the US in a few months, but the sale would have been over by then. He ordered the lens and had Adorama ship that it my in California. I checked out his new lens and kept it for a few months. When he arrived in Chicago for a conference, I shipped the lens to him at his hotel. Apparently that was a great deal for him.
