Z6/7 III news addiction

IMO, Nikon has a history of doing the unexpected and surprising people. I see no evidence that a Z6iii is in the works at all. My guess is the next camera at that level will be something unexpected. Or, a Z6iii could come out next week.
I can't disagree with that. But there is a hint of evidence in Nikon's most recent financial report.

The Nikon Imaging Products Business forecast for next year is to capitalize on the expected expansion in the mid-/high-end model market. To do this Nikon will continue to focus on mid-/high-end models to grow sales volume and revenue. This will most certainly not happen if Nikon continues to ignore the critical mid-tier.

In other words, if Nikon is going to grow sales (as per their public financial statements) in the mid- and high-end tiers they will have to add and/or iterate bodies this year!

Whether the Z6iii comes out at all aside, I agree that Nikon is full of surprises.

As in, I'm surprised that its nearly June and the only product they've released or even so much as teased this year is the 28-400mm. ;-)

Honestly I would say I'm less interested in actually purchasing a new camera this year - I'm pretty happy with the Z8 - but I'm hoping that whatever announcement that gets made shines some light on the exotic 35mm lens that's last on the roadmap. Still interested in seeing what camera(s) Nikon releases next though.

Either way, this lack of news reminds me of the time that the D500 came out unexpectedly and surprised everyone. Hoping that we get another surprise like that :-D

Leaving first week of June on another vacation...welp, guess Z6 is coming along again.

Never would have thought it would take this long to update.

I figured at least they would have it available to get in people's hands before Father's Day...seems like a no brainer...but I guess not.

I was just trying to shoot some sports action today with cam and reminded me of how much this thing needs an update.

I still got many good shots, but the tracking is trash in 2024.

My name is Peter, and I’m a NikonRumors addict.

;)

Seriously, I find myself checking both that website and DPR throughout the day in the hopes of finding coverage of a Z6/Z7 III announcement.

Am I alone?
I think NikonRumors themselves have started losing hope, I haven't seen them talk about the Z6iii in quite a while, or even the 35mm f/1.2.

I guess all we can do is wait. :-P
It is through these trying times of hardship and suffering, that we must cling on (or was it Klingon?) to our love for Nikon, and the faith that we have in His Holiness. To look forward to the day when our divine lord may find us worthy of finally being able to purchase… a Z6 III.

;)

I heard that the announcement has been delayed as they are trying to get the new replacement for the Nikkormat FT3 out...

Something interesting going on in some online shops in Switzerland. Looks like stock clearance without Z6iii or Z7iii announcement.

I can see that on top of the Nikon instand discount, on the Z7ii or Z6ii bodies and kit some offer a 100 chf discount, some stores get you additional 10% off.

And note, its only on those cams.

It leaves me an impression that they make room for z6iii and z7iii in order not too loose profit once the new is here

*I still suggest that Nikon will want to capitalize on the Paris Olympics by releasing new cameras beforehand . Also , as June approaches it would not surprise me if some Pros secretly (NDA) are testing the new models for a final "shake down" before such new camera models go into production .

In the past, Nikon has had two flagships line up with the summer Olympics. What flagships are we expecting for this Olympics?

And I still point out that all past pre-Olympic releases have been of flagship models, not consumer models like the Z6 or Z7 line.

Well, that wouldn't surprise me at all, as that would coordinate with a post-Olympics release. The Olympics start in exactly 61 days. It will take longer than that for results of field tests on prototypes to be incorporated into a production line, and then for cameras to be produced on that line and shipped in time for a pre-Olympics release.

Just a thought (Olympics release) but doubtful there will be a new Z8 or Z9 release for the pros rank ...
