I don't even know what the LUG forum is. But my memory isn't what it used to be, either. Thanks, Jim! Were you on the LUG forum? I seem to recall your posts there but I’m aging so might be mistaken on that. Cheers

Ah, yes. I think I participated there when I still had M cameras. The long gone Leica Users Group. The archives are out there somewhere.
Dr. Reid will be most disappointed to find out he's "long gone". It's bad enough what Google did to him.The long gone

I never had M cameras, except short term loans. (Lots of dentists and doctors lining up to stick their camera in my hands for a few weeks so I can get familiar enough with it to teach them how to work it).Ah, yes. Aha, there’s hope for me yet.Ah, yes. I think I participated there when I still had M cameras. The long gone Leica Users Group. The archives are out there somewhere.

Great to know, Joseph! Now I remember you posting there, always with humor and wit. Since I announced their early demise, I’ll be sure to check in and see what’s going on at the LUG.Dr. Reid will be most disappointed to find out he's "long gone". It's bad enough what Google did to him.The long gone

It's not at all "long gone". Brian Reid set it up on a MajorDomo list-server back in '92. He managed to port the message database from MajorDomo to MailMan in '03 years and it's still running today. Annual traffic is down to about 1/3 of what it was at its peak, and that peak was in 2013.
Seriously, if you're not on, you can sign up.
And if you search the archives, you'll see that I'm probably the only person to ever post shots with Leitz Photars there.
Because I'm everywhere. I exist forever, in the wind!

Really impressed with your efforts and the performance of the lens. Big props all around. The big, fat, beautiful Pentax 67 bellows and all the adapters arrived.
This is fully extended with an additional 48mm extension tube, slightly beyond 3x, f4.2 (approx.)
GFX50S
no stack, single shot.
Cross-polarised crystals with LED lighting.
Suffice to say I'm pretty happy with the results.
there's a slight bloom on some frames...but honestly for +3x on a medium format sensor that's a mighty fine result. But it shows that while the resolution at 3x is alright for 50MP it won't be enough to resolve a 100MP sensor.
I'm just saying this to temper expectations, it's a fantastic lens but can't overcome physics and optical limits.
EDIT: I just measured 11mm FOV horizontal. So that's actually 4x magnification. Whoops. Those adapters really add some length. +500mm total extension.
I've recently had the chance to compare two additional Mejiro FL0530 with both of mine.
While the performance is absolutely identical (they're all stellar) I also noticed that the magnification ring is also not correctly set and requires adjustment.
I'm pretty sure by now that it's because these lenses were designed for line scanner sensors, not "our" camera sensors with their rather thick sensor glass. Most likely the sensor glass causes a slight shift in focus, just like a polariser filter will due to the additional layer of glass.
So if you want to get the best performance with theses lenses the mag ring has to be adjusted, otherwise the edges and corners will not deliver the best possible image quality right out of the box.
Yes, I'd say it was the same amount, I didn't measure the exact degree of required repositioning but it was pretty much the same.Did they all have to be adjusted in the same direction and roughly by a similar amount?I've recently had the chance to compare two additional Mejiro FL0530 with both of mine.

Excellent, but how are you defining "cutoff"? 50% transmission, 5% transmission? etc.I scanned my copy of this lens today. If anyone is interested the cut off is at 363nm.
I do keep those around. B+W 415, specifically for fluorescence work. Smallest I have is a 52mm and a 52-49 step up. Also my 49mm lens hood has a 52mm thread on the front. Unfortunately, I believe that filter is now discontinued. So can be used for UVA imaging. If you want to use it for UV induced luminescence (fluorescence), you will need a UV blocking filter that actually blocks UV.
Well, please let us know when you do.I haven't used it yet for UV photography, so can't report on sharpness yet.
