Was waiting for the light, shooting Long Dong Silver from the spot everybody stands at to photograph it... a couple appears from behind it, which means they ignored the obvious path that brings you up around to this position.... well okay, they don't know any better and we will just wait for them to walk through and clear out of the shot...

...they eventually end up where he is standing after about 5-10 minutes of wandering, during this time they even wave to me and my camera pointed in their direction...then begins a 20 minute session of vapid posing with her taking breaks to see what he got and running back for more poses and directing him where to stand...and so on...the picture here is during one of her two outfit changes including changing to high heels...

I get it, but it would take about 30 seconds to get rid of them in PS. Happy to remove them if you wish? FWIW they might not even be on Insta, they could just be garden variety idiots ;)

I also kinda like them for scale? The scene feels a bit empty without them!

Sometimes Instangrammers can be interesting subjects.

I agree, it is too easy for people to get to some of these sights.

I hope they get interested in the beach or something else.

Oh, I feel for you.

I'd be so tempted yell at them to get the F outta my shot.

Always a contentious issue when this occurs but I usually make at least three attempts to solve this type of problem
1. Reasonable patience - while looking for a better altenative angle.
2. Shoot with a view to cloning out in post if possible.

If these really aren't possible;
3. Go and join the group and obviously play the game!!
Although generally, I've found courtesy and persistence eventually wins out.

By the way, I will add one other pet irritant. The assumption that because I'm stood there with a DSLR rather than phone that I'm a professional on tap to take their photos for them!!

That said, I don't often refuse if asked nicely.

We started with #1, rationalized with an implementation of #2 for a couple of frames, and eventually ended up at #3 which resulted in incredulous shock and dirty looks on their part.

After I got bored photo bombing them I left and went over to Dark Angel which nobody seems to pay any attention to or photographs and enjoyed myself while muttering about "these damn kids today!" and such. 😋

I confess I've only resorted to #3 on a couple of occasions when I really was getting P'd off.

Great shots and location by the way. I hope I get an opportunity to visit before arthritis really takes over.

Yeh, and once they spot you, patiently waiting to take your picture without them...they even dare to prolong their shoot(s)(s)(s)(s)

When that's too obvious, one of us joins their "decorum" to solve it.

When point of boiling has been reached...shout and ask to make room :-x

A simple shout out would have gone a long ways and resulted in an easy accommodation.

However, today there is a connection with social media, certain age groups and feelings of entitlement.

Polite discussion to their social faux pas so often today results in a response of deflection or indignation that more and more you seem to have to just leap frog right to WTFrig is wrong with you?

I feel your pain. Hence why I typically select areas that require 4wd to access or miles of hiking. This seems to weed out most morons, but not always! Thanks for your insight Mike. Greg

My issue with it is when they are trespassing into areas marked off for environmental preservation (delicate desert plants or whatever) or for safety. It’s incredibly satisfying when a ranger comes to chase them off.
